Default Jermaine O'Neal - Is this Chris Bosh's Future?

Just hoped that everyone payed close attention to JO tonight, because if Bosh signs with Toronto longterm for Max, you are looking into the future.

Except of course JO still plays better defense than Bosh.

Although he did block a shot towards the end of the game.

You saying Bosh is playing for a contract?

Probably right, but let's enjoy it while it lasts

Lol.... this thread MIGHT have been effective if Bosh didn't have another monster game and lead his team to the win.

It makes for a good laugh though.

yelling to the croud does not constitute leading your team

you're nothing if not consistent snooch, but these days you're consistently sounding a lot like highonpsi.

Hehe..I actually can't disagree with this. I think it's a viable possibility.

if Bosh goes down with a couple of devastating knee injuries that require surgery, sure it's a possibility...

he's in his early 30's (born in '78, so he's 31), but he came into the league at 18 and has lots and lots of miles on those knees.

JO looks better this year than last year. Although at the beginning of last year i was pretty impressed with him (before that first tweak of his knee - it was either vs. Boston or New Jersey). I remember back then i said that was the biggest turning point in ruining our season. Honestly, before then we were a confident team. After that, we looked fragile.

Jermaine O'Neal was never the offensive threat that Bosh is and has been the past four seasons. Even in Jermaine's absolute prime, in two of his four 20+ ppg seasons, he shot 45% from the field or below. He wasn't a near-mandatory double team and, except for one season, didn't get to the line nearly as often as Bosh.

I agree that JO's D has always been better and he was a legitimate defensive juggernaut for a couple of seasons, but those days are LONG behind him.

------

Funny stat - when Bosh was 21, he averaged 22 points a game and 9 rebs. JO averaged 4 points, 3 rebs.

JO had a good run of 6 seasons before knee injuries wrecked his game. But JO was still 29 before his game started to truly decline. Bosh is 25, meaning if JO is the template for Bosh's career (which I don't think it is), he has 4 more good seasons in him.

yep - the closer comparison would be to Wade, in terms of actual impact

funny how Wade won't get blamed for much of anything tonight

that is a ludicrous comparison.

Wade getting 23 million per is fine.

Bosh, i dont know.

If we need to bring in more and more players of higher calibre to "help him" doesnt dound like a guy that is worth that. Same as JO when he got his current deal.
