Jermaine Can Opt Out After Next Season

Buuuuuut, likely won't because who in their right mind would opt out of a $20 million payout in their final year? ;)

He would have to be miserable in Toronto this year to opt out. (I mean personally, not on the court)

And Doug...summer league blows, but National Team exhibition games are where its at? Please. I'll take ex-NCAA guys over ex-CIS guys any day :haha:

If he has a good injury-free year his agent will get him to opt out and look for a 5 year deal. He is still only 30. He will definitely be able to get a good deal. But I can't see him walking out on $20 million.

never know..

Baron Davis opted out of 17.8 Million in the last year of his contract.

Adequate Swag 07-08-2008 10:42 AM

Because he was in what he viewed as a dead end situation.

For Jermaine to bolt after one year would indicate one of two things. Either he never wanted to be here in the first place, or something went very very wrong while he was here.

An important cog on a (hopefully) rising team turning down 20 mil? That would be something

If he opts out, GO AFTER KOBE!!

Or maybe he wants to cash in on one last semi-mega deal before its too late. Alot can happen in one year and although $20 million is alot of money, maybe Jermaine opts out so he can sign one last mid length deal and has some guaranteed funds for another number of years. :confused2:

And if this happens it just gives us some breathing room for next season of the season after that.

In all honestly, I'm not too concerned about Jermaine leaving right now or even opting out.

I hope pigs will fly next year. I better start praying.

I don't think Jermaine will opt out of that much money, unless he becomes a real team player. Hopefully (don't count on it), he opts out for less money and helps the franchise re-sign Jamario Moon and have more than the Mid Level Exception. I anticipate a better free agent class next summer.

Actually guys. In a way it is kind of a difference. You never know, that extra $3 million can actually be helpful in the long run with clear cap space and all. Not only that decent players/benchers are worth about $3 million.

Gurk 07-08-2008 06:13 PM

i was just saying what gilbert arenas would say in this type of a situation
