Question jeffb & Michael Grange = Same Person?

Hmmmm .... jeffb, the only strong advocate for a Ford for Maggette trade here at RF. I'm onto you now jeff.

Who knows? What is known is that with their most tradeable assets gone the Raptors are still likely to have below-average production from their wing positions. I'm of the opinion that if the Raptors were going to add a talented-yet-flawed 30-year-old NBA veteran it should have been the Clippers Corey Maggette. Not saying he was available to them, but his 8.9 trips to the free throw line a game would have been a welcome addition.

Grange is too damn pessimistic about everything and anything to do with the Raptors. If they won the title he would whine and complain that trophy's color clashes with the team's jerseys...

Anyway, you can't fix everything in one season. Even the Celtics had holes on their club.

So much wrong with this article.

A 20 million dollar expiring contract is in no way a crap shoot. That is the one part of this deal that is locked in and guaranteed. The Raps will have the option to either trade that expiring contract, or to let him walk and play with huge amounts of cap room in the 2010 summer, which has been well documented to be loaded.

So, uh, yeah...I'd say that's worth our time.

How will he react to being a second option offensively? The question is fair (as it is with any big name player getting traded. But it seemed to work out for Pau Gasol, Garnett, Ray Allen, Rasheed, and many others), but then he assumes Maggette would react better? As a guy who IS the second option on his team and jacks as many shots as Jermaine? Ridiculous.

And to refer to JO and Maggete together as "flawed" is ridiculous. Maggete's game is flawed because his shot selection is bad, and he can't do a damn thing besides score. In addition, 20% of his shot attempts were threes last year, so he appears to be looking to break out of that "slasher" mentality. Maggete is indeed, a very flawed player.

Jermaine? He's had a couple injuries, but his on-court game is not flawed. In his 8 seasons as a starter (including the years he missed significant portions of) the guy has made 6 all star games. Not that the ASG is the marker of what we need, but I mean, how flawed can a guy really be when he's 6-8 making all star appearances?

And the free throws? Come on. He thinks those 3 free throws per game makes up for the fact that he addresses zero other needs?

I just couldn't disagree with this article any more.

And referring to

I would have rather we traded for Marion,RIP,Jefferson rather than Maggette. He would have been my fourth or fifth option.

for a center, JO is a great FT shooter. Not sure what Grange is smoking, but last time I checked, centers shoot around 60% from the line. JO had something like 75% last year.
