Jeff Van Gundy's comments (regarding TOR).

I know that some people were asking about what he said in the PHX game so here it is....

"This is what I don't understand about Toronto... You have all the offensive firepower you need to win HUGE in this league.... and you won't even TRY defensively? You give Atlanta 146 and then you have a chance to come home tonight, not 2 weeks later and you give 'em 111 at home? I don't get it."

:sigh:

JVG is a teacher. He will teach you what you need to do and then expects you to apply it. If you don't, you wont see a minute until you attempt to put what he wants to work.

Jay is guidance counselor. He guides you, asks for your opinion, and makes you feel better about yourself. There is a reason, why guidance counselors are so meaningless. They are easily replaceable.

wish he had to chance to show it how it's done :)
He's by far the best coach available right now - and triano makes peanuts, so canning him would not be significant in the grand scheme ...

I like Larry Brown a lot for the same reasons..... but the thing is... those guys are very demanding about the types of players that they want on their teams.

I can almost guarantee you that half our roster would be gone if he was at the helm lol....

JVG/Larry Brown type guys are.... Raja Bell... Gerald Wallace... Matt Barnes.... Joakim Noah... the Lopez bros.... the only player (other than Bosh) that we have like that is prob. Amir.

Any pub is good pub..maybe this embarrasses BC enough to do something severe hehe..

larry brown is a moron who has destroyed 3 teams in 5 years (det, ny and now charlotte).
Charlotte passed on lopez because LB wanted augustin ... And now he's giving him 5 minutes a game. He's the one who traded the whole team just to be 5 wins better.

he's a good coach, but he's a wrecker - wouldn't touch him with a 100ft

moremilk 12-12-2009 02:12 AM

how is bosh an JVG player? He's not a hustler and he's not a great defender. He's obviously a very good player, but he's a finesse player who rebounds well - he's almost as far away from tough as turkoglu.

How do you come close to leading the league in REBS AND FTAs and not hustle? :confused2:

Larry Brown is the worst developer of young talent in the history of western civilization..

Larry Brown is one of the greatest coaches that this game has ever known. One of the few that hold both an NCAA and and NBA title.

"wrecked DET"? You mean AFTER he took them to a title?

N.Y. was a complete disaster long before he ever got there. And they still are.

CHA started playing A LOT better once they got Bell & Diaw on their squad (some vets that Brown respects) and they've improved even more since getting Jackson.

Larry Brown is the same guy who took the hapless Clippers to the playoffs.

He's also the guy who built up the Pacers from nothing into a formidable team.

And ALSO the guy who made sure to grab Dikembe from ATL (to PHI) and got the most out of A.I.... more than any other coach ever has.

You may not like him but he is FAR from a "moron".

And not just any rebounds... because he takes them away from his teammates.

OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS. He fights the other team under their basket and grabs THEIR rebounds. That's hustle, pure will, and determination. Bosh is a beast on the offensive glass... that's a fact, not an opinion.

hahahaha... patience is not Larry's strong suit.

Unbeliever 12-12-2009 02:19 AM

JVG had Allan Houston and Mark Jackson looking like all-defensive players
-he once said "Give me an offensive player over a defensive player anyday of the week.I can teach an offensive player how to be a good defensive player, I can't teach a defensive player to be a good offensive player"

krillog 12-12-2009 02:25 AM

Every JVG photo is worth its weight in gold.

that's exactly what I mean ... if not for that title, detroit would still have billups and be a 55+ wins team. After the title, dumars got overambitious and it went downhill from there. And I wouldn't be surprised if drafting darko wasn't in some way LB's idea too :)

like I said, he's a good coach, but he's a moron when he tries to GM teams ... NY was a mess, but it only got truly ugly when he tried to steal Isiah's job. And charlotte is playing better, because he can coach. But that franchise's future is wrecked by passing over lopez, who would have been a cornerstone for years to come.

how many ORs did he have tonight, did you think he played hard tonight? Did you see him hustling?

Bosh will have games like tonight often, at least 15 every season. He's a very talented player, and an excellent rebounder, and he's willing to hustle -but he's no "natural" like Reggie Evans is.

ANd that's not a knock on him, many good players are like that. Howard is not a hustler either, he's just supertalented and super strong. He doesn't get rebounds because he's hustling :)

Honestly... I HATE it when people do this.

Bosh has a bad game here & there (because he's HUMAN) and people take the opportunity to bash him.

Let me ask you this... would you rather have Bosh or Reggie Evans on your team?

If a "natural rebounder" is what we really wanted then we really SHOULD have done everything in our power to keep Marion. Because he's twice the rebounder that Reggie will ever be and has about 10X more game.

Again.. N.Y. was a disaster and that was 100% Isiah. Without a doubt. EVERYONE knows that.

CHA's future is "wrecked" by passing on Lopez??? Ummmm.... a bit melodramatic no? He's a nice young player but it's not like they passed on Shaq or TD. Id' say that they're still doing pretty well regardless.
