Default Jeff Adrien?

let's say pops is offered a contract from some asshole team (knicks) and we don't feel like matching, and Joey Graham bolts.

What do we put as our 3rd PF?

I would like to add in Jeff Adrien, undersized but has potential to be our 11-12 man off the bench. I've seen his game while in College and even though his height has a disadvantage he can still score (as quoted below) and surprisingly is dominant on the boards (second to Thabeet on his team). Plus he's tough and is praised for his defensive game.

Quote:
best attributes that he brings to the game are his "leadership, rebounding, toughness, and the ability to score over taller guys".

Adrien finished his college career with 1,600 points and 1,100 rebounds, becoming only the second Husky to accomplish that feat since Jim Calhoun became coach in 1986

Adrien averaged 13.7 ppg, and 10 rebounds per game

Adrien is the definition of a lunch pail player. He fights for every rebound, every loose ball, and puts his heart into everything he does on the court Despite standing just 67, Adrien has a near 70 wingspan that enables him to dominate on the boards and block shots
As for his stats above, if we take that into the NBA he would still average about 6 ppg and 5 rpg, still pretty good coming off the bench, plus he's young.

So if we can get him for dirt cheap (Quincy Douby money) because he is undrafted, would you take him?

Well pops has a height advantage and a bit more athletic, but it's all equaled out with Adrien's wingspan, Plus Adrien is a lunch bucket guy and will grind with anyone in the paint, which I like from him.

LeBron James Skills Academy Day Three

July 10, 2007

Adrien was far and away the most dominant player of any of the collegians, showing that he could score against taller and more athletic defenders such as the Lopez twins and his Connecticut teammate Hasheem Thabeet. He was just so much more powerful and explosive then any other player on the floor that it was almost unjust to watch what he was doing to his foes. The junior forward established whatever position he wanted on the low blocks, finished around the rim, and was a terror on the offensive glass. Most impressive however was his improved range on his jumper, now being a threat from 17 feet and in consistently.

While Jeff does not have ideal size for a power forward at only 6’6, he is able to compensate for that with a wingspan exceeding 7’0 and exceptional athleticism. He is an extremely productive player with a motor that never stops, making him a coach’s dream for a role player off of the bench. As long as Adrien is able to continue his productivity, there is no reason that he should not find himself on a roster at the conclusion of his tenure as a player at Connecticut.

Judging by this report, I'd at least look into signing Adrien.

Adrien is actually a lot like Ben Wallace. They're both physical specimens, they love to mix it up, they're tough, very good rebounders and both are a bit undersized.

i'm not going to try to explain why pops isn't good because it won't make you change your mind.

PJ Tucker wasn't a lunch bucket guy who can defend anyone and bang in the paint, plus Jeff Adrien is a bit taller with superior wingspan.

Seems like my type of player. Doubt we'll sign him but I wouldn't mind if we do. He is a very good player and could make a surprise impact next season.

no, the difference being is that delfino is WAY BETTER than PMB.

and i haven't seen any delfino hype, all i've seen is how we can sign and trade him.

PMB fans are like, omg, we can get rid of this guy and then we open up a spot for pops and offer him a better deal and get a back up wing.

my questions are why would you want to offer PMB a contract over 1 million? why do you want pops?

you all say we can trade banks for a second rounder. honestly, you'd get more for banks then you would PMB and that's fact.

I beg to differ, Pops bring a lot to this squad compared to Delfino and especially Banks. If you check out this link : Why the Raptors should sign Big Daddy Pops and not Carlos Chuckfino

I explain in details why we should pick Pops over Delfino

Cheers

This kid sounds interesting. Young and hungry. A big wingspan can't be underrated -- Elton Brand is only 6'8 but with his wingspan when he stands tall with his hands straight up his fingertips are as tall as 7'0 Chris Kaman doing the same thing.

i read that thread and honestly, i thought it was a joke. you really didn't give any fact in there.

you are just PMB's #1 fan.

i must say you made me even less interested in pops mensah-bonsu. no offence.

i wrote an article back a bit. i think you should check it out:
