Would of preferred him being included in a multiple players deal that brings back SF talent. This was done give we have Landry Fields who may not even be an upgrade to JJ, but with a higher salary. Fields will certainly be a decent journey men, but doesn't have the upside of JJ.
What's next BC? Second rounder for Jose?

Oh calm down, JJ was a good player but one of the most skilled? Come on! He's offensively challenged, can't shoot, is at times over weight. I love his defense and shot blocking ability. But this is a bench player we're talking about here.

BTW, listening to the fan this moring for the last 2hrs and there hasn't been one mention of this whatsoever.
I totally agree with you! Kleiza is awesome SF. He will average 12 points, 6rebs next season!!! Linas Kleiza is much much better player than JJ. Best BC's move this summer so far to keep Kleiza.

He was also a habitual brain-farter. He couldn't help but float his head in the clouds at least a few times each game - always resulting in a basket for the other team or a turnover.

Johnson is not the type of guy you want on your team - especially when he thinks he's starting quality.

He lacked a few marbles. That was pretty clear from day one. And there was a report about the smoke detector in the airplane washroom that delayed that flight from Memphis. That's just stupid shit, and I have to admit I thought of JJ as soon as I read about that.

the other deal was with NOH the same season :
Jaret jack + anderson + ????
for
bayless + peja

and we get ajinca as a wauver or a fa during the second half of this same season.
The TPE was used to make the Jack trade work bec of Peja's contract.

Anyways, I'm down for evaluating more players who will probably blow up soon. I can't wait to use that 2nd round pick to draft the next T-Mac, showcase his potential, then let him go for nothing.

I liked JJ, I thought he was a very solid defender and (when he was hitting his shot), a good player. So, I'm sad to see him go. But if this added cap space allows us to better fill the holes in the roster, I'm all for it.

Really hoping that BC has a concrete plan over the next few weeks. The Jose/PF situations need to be addressed, and the number of options is running out, with other teams snatching up FAs and making trades.

Second, you can't look at a string of trades to determine their worth. Trading a late 1st for JJ for a possibly heavily protected 2nd can't be seen as a simple exchange of picks. The whole point of a draft pick is to give a team a chance to evaluate a young player and decide whether to keep them. JJ was acquired via a draft pick for exactly that reason. Heck, if the 2nd rounder ends up actually coming to the Raps, I'll consider it a huge bonus - it would mean we got to evaluate JJ for free, and still have a similarly good chance to evaluate another player.
Wow Dan really good points!
You have convinced me that this is a good deal BC should hire you as his writer dude!

Some people on this board are ridiculous. You guys all think that BC didn't look for other trade possibilities or something? He just put all his scenerios into a hat and ended up with this one?

Just like I'm sure we could have traded down to get Lowry + Ross but he opted to just pick Ross straight up. Think about it man... Not to mention he already had said that any trade doe the 8th would have taken them out of the first round.

JJ was my fav Rap for many games this season. His hustle inspired.

His locker room attitude must have been terrible to get him benched and then shipped for practically nothing.

I'm going to side with Casey on this one. You cant start something with a head case in your camp.

It's hard to believe that this move was made to free up some cap, because JJ's salary was pretty low. He really must be a or banging Casey's wife
