I see a lot of posts expressing cultural values as if they are universal facts. I couldn't even begin to understand how we would determine which sport is the "best" (and I'm not even entirely sure I know what makes something a sport). On top of it all, I don't understand the seemingly personal investment: why get bent out of shape about a sport that you don't enjoy? Just don't watch it and let others enjoy themselves. Why must you be right in your certainty that basketball is better than hockey (to give but one common example on this forum)?

Soccer is popular the world over because all you need is one ball and a playing surface. It is not cost-prohibitive. What else are they going to get into? Polo? Dune buggie racing?

Rice is a very popular food the world over also, but that is a far cry from making it the best food out there. Find me the guy that asks for a bowl of rice for his last meal before the electric chair.

Soccer is just plain boring to watch.

soccer is a game of champions.. especially when played in europe or on a national level. people saying soccer is full of primadonas, please, just watch one premier league game, then talk to me. soccer is the most enjoyed sport in the world, the world cup the most watched sporting event in the world. people say soccer is a game of life and death. others say its more than that. its true, peoples lives are based around soccer. ever seen livepool fans(hooligans) go nuts?? its bloody wild. i dont mind if you dont like to watch it, but to bash the sport, and the skill it requires, especially on a PROFESSIONAL level, is downright childish. the players dont get payed tens of millions of euros per year for nothing you know.

Soccer is also the most physically demanding sport in the world, anyone who debates that is delusional.

Who put down the skill it takes. They're great athletes, no doubt about it. We're just saying it's boring and there are a lot of embelishments all over the place including in the premiere league, which unfortunately i've watched a few times when i had a roomate years ago that was from Ireland. And even he admited that soccer players were divers and drama queens.

How can you find baseball exciting but soccer boring? It makes no sense, baseball is the worst sport in the world.

I grew up playing baseball, and was a very good pitcher. Played competetive ball for 20yrs. I played all kinds of sports but baseball was the sport i was best at. To me it's a great sport. Again, it's what you grow up influenced by and playing yourself. I know baseball, and to be honest hitting a 90-95mph pitch is one of the hardest things to do in sport period. To me soccer is the worst sport in the world. Huge fields, huge nets......yet nothing happens. And just when you think something might......someone kicks the ball 2 feet over the net thats the size of a small house. To each their own as they say.

and with baseball when someone actually gets a good hit on the ball and you gett all excited for once, the ball ends up in an outfielders glove way out. sooooooooooo exciting

Soccer is harder than it looks, especially at a competitive level. The good thing about soccer is that its a team sport, you need to play together to overcome the other teams defense.. scoring isn't what soccer is all about.

I'm good at baseball and I played it once in my whole life.. the star baseball players are all overweight and sit around for 25 minutes waiting for a pitch. Baseball is not a team game, its 1 on 1 between the pitcher and the batter.. boring IMO.

Sorry, but i find way more excitment in diving catches, stolen bases, triples, HR's, great pitching performances then i do in any soccer match. Enjoy you're soccer and i'll enjoy baseball, it's all good kid. And most of people here saying soccer is boring prefer baseball. So why you only bring it up to me is a mystery but whatever.

Oh gee... Jeff said auto racing is not a sport... Cuckoo... Cuckoo... FAIL

So, what is sport? The thing with the BALL?

F1 is one of the hardest and most exhausting sport to humans body. G force, hell heat, literal and psychological pressure.
It also requires super talent and inborn skills. It's all about human's body, not racing car... How many women racers we have? Very little, because men are stronger, has better reaction and effect of adrenaline. Every F1 racer lose more weigh after his session then any basketball, football or soccer player... Just saying.

The star baseball players are all overweight? You gotta be kidding me right? And i never said soccer wasn't hard. It is hard. I and many hate soccer, you and many hate baseball....whatever.

And to say you've played baseball once your whole life and you were "good" makes me laugh. I'd love to see you try and hit a 90mph pitch.

I probably can hit a 90MPH pitch, I also hit a few home runs when I played.

Also... good luck finding these guys in soccer. They seem like an average Joe to me, anyone can be a superstar in baseball.
