Exclamation James Johnson on The Fan 590

Just caught the end and heard these two points:

"Jay Triano is light years ahead of any coach he's ever played for in terms of basketball IQ"

"In Chicago the locker room was SILENT after losses."

Triano light years ahead of any coach?!?! Shenanigans!

So does this mean there was crying, moaning and groaning in the Raps locker room after losses?

I don't think that's very surprising. He played under Gaudio at Wake Forest and then Del Negro in Chicago.

He's finally playing significant minutes. What else would he say. That much praise for a coach that has a career record of 87-140 is slightly over the top.

Relax people, he wants to remain here and keep getting minutes, he'll say anything.

It's no coincedence that same dudes who will take any little quote or action by a player out of context and twist it to prove players don't like Triano or that he's a bad coach, will go to the same lengths to discredit a direct quote when a player says anything positive.

I was just going to say this.

Oh no, NinjaRaptor thinks Triano is good and enjoys playing for him!! How awful! That must really mean that he's lying, and Triano is the worst coach in history.

I believe him, and I'm glad he likes Triano. If he's happy here, he'll stick around.

And besides, no one has really ever questioned Jay's x's and o's... it's his ability to disipline and motivate some of us question. You don't get to be an NBA coach without knowing your sh*t...but getting the team to buy into it every play is another matter.

Until Triano can show me that a team coached by him can play even passable NBA defense consistently, he's not getting my endorsement (and yes I know my endorsement means nothing).

Defense isn't about talent. It's about effort and smarts. Triano should have a direct influence over both.

This..

Not to knock James Johnson, but of course he's going to like the coach who starts him.

i lost a lot of respect for this organization as a whole (BC and upper management in particular) when i saw Wright warming up in pregame the day after he refused to play..that was just fucking sad
so the people on here who are bitching about JT's lack of disipline should be directling alot of that blame on the people above him..as a coach, there is very little you can do if you don't have the support from the rest of the organization

JT handled the situation perfectly...the Raptor organization FAILED (Big Time)

Wait a second...BC suited up Wright the next day? Triano's hand was forced in that situation.

Please explain where this is all coming from. I must of missed it.

Triano had the power to dress Alabi if he desired so. Collangelo doesn't decide which players are in street clothes and which suit up.
