James Johnson?

Do you want James Johnson back on the team next season?

I really liked James Johnsons play especially his ability to defend. He was shaky with his shot, but he had his nights. I see a lot of potential in him as an all around small forward, a strong backup?

At the same time, lets not forget James Johnson was benched for a while towards the end of the year last season. Not quite sure what that was about, but it seemed to be stemming from his relationship with coach Casey..

So. Do you want James Johnson back? Or is he a trade piece?

Raptors1995 07-06-2012 03:17 AM

Not really that high on him. Certaintly not un-touchable or a starter. If we acquire a solid SF, don't mind seeing him go. He still has some value and could be moved in a larger trade for a SF or probably a late first rounder early second round pick.

Yes, this season he did well, a really good backup SF. And if continues, can be a potential starting SF in this league, just needs to work things out with Casey, and submit to authority.

He was one of our most rounded players. Defends, rebounds, can handle and dish the ball. I think he'd be great off the bench alongside bayless and ross.

MBailey85 07-06-2012 03:27 AM

I rather have him than Kleiza back but he's an after thought.

I don't care if he's back so voted NO,but if he is,I want him in a suit...until an emergency or injury comes up,then he could come in.

MrClutch 07-06-2012 07:09 AM

id want johnson to come back, but hes got to show his offense is coming around even a mid range game would be nice

moujik 07-06-2012 07:23 AM

If Toronto management has any sense, they keep JJ. I'm sure he'll fix his handle, and the shot looked better already towards the end of the season.
He'd be the last guy to let go for me.

Raptor Dan 07-06-2012 08:03 AM

Keep, he improved as the season went on last season. His still only 25 and is a good defender.

DanH 07-06-2012 08:05 AM

Keep. Fantastic defender off the bench, reasonable rookie contract, and if one of our backup PF's is moved, he and Kleiza fit nicely as part time PF's as well.

shenmui 07-06-2012 08:31 AM

Not as a starter.

carp 07-06-2012 09:40 AM

He's a guy you keep, for all the reasons mentioned above.... but if he's a guy that a team wants in a trade for a big-time SF, you don't hesitate on adding him. Same goes for Ed, Acy, Amir, Bayless.

MikeToronto 07-06-2012 09:47 AM

Don't mind him starting one bit. After Jose, and for entirely different set of reasons, he is my favorite current Raptor.

10gizzle 07-06-2012 10:09 AM

If this guy gets his shooting down, we won't have a choice but to start him.

Contributes in too many ways. The fact that he's a very solid passer is just a cherry on top.

jeffb 07-06-2012 10:48 AM

Yes but not starting :)

RaptorsandBuckeye FaN 07-06-2012 10:51 AM

You have to keep him. Solid player who is even better if he comes off the bench. No reason to get rid of him unless you package him in with other players for a bigger deal.

creative1mm 07-06-2012 11:03 AM

I wouldn't mind having him back, but if we can use him in a package to bring in a good quality SF, then that would work aswell

LET'S GO RAPTORS!!!!! 07-06-2012 11:06 AM

If he can be packaged with another player to acquire an actual starting SF then deal him, if not he's a useful player who has the potential to be like W.Chandler, if not, he's a decent combo forward off the bench.

Gurk 07-06-2012 11:39 AM

Keep, I like him and Kleiza I just hope we can get a legit starter.

DonMughal 07-06-2012 11:40 AM

He's much better than people give him credit for. DD called him the MVP for the Raptors last year.

Grover 07-06-2012 11:43 AM

I think he would be great coming off the bench, especially at his price. (awesome value) :thumb:
