Jake Voskhul Roast

LOL
Quote:
I'm sorry, but it says a little bit about your personnel boss by the way he decides to fill up the end of the bench. And there's nothing that Jake Voskuhl is doing this year that couldn't have been correctly called by anyone who was paying attention nine freakin' years ago. The guy has played 30 games, and he has a 0.0 PER. That's nearly impossible. He's shooting 27 percent from the floor, he turns the ball over once for every five possessions he uses up, and his rebounding (the one supposed skill) has been worse than Yi Jianlian this year. Sorry for picking on Jake, but there's a reason some teams never seem to accrue depth, and it has to do with NBA GMs continually relying on something that rhymes with "Venti-ay Bee-threads." [KD]

Jake actually played well at first but since he disappeared and is not giving Raps a thing... no big deal, he is a scrub and just a insurance if one of the bigs gets injured.

He is, by no means, the reason why Raps suck this year.

As much as I'm going to regret asking this, for the fact that it is clearly going to be a very simple answer....what the heck does it rhyme with? haha I'm sorry I'm just not there!

Voskhul is a "Bonified Scrub" in the words of Steven A. Smith. He reminds me of those scrub centers that went up against Shaq in the 90's because all of the star big men were too afraid to defend Shaq.

Jake was brought in to:

a. provide depth at the centre position
b. provide extra fouls
c. play tough

Really he's done all those things. We didn't have a back up centre this season, he's provided extra fouls on big men (doing his job) and he's played pretty tough all season long (hell has given more hard fouls than everybody's darling, Andrea). He is what he is, a player who can't do anything really offensively, but plays the game the right way. Why some people feel the need to rip on a 12th-13th man, I'll never know.

Also, why does every columnist these days bring up PER. The more I see it, the more I think it's used by people who don't really know much about basketball, but use it as a way to substantiate their point. This isn't baseball, where baseball is all about statistics.

Jake was brought with the hopes that some of his toughness would rub off on a team full of pussies. Mission failed.

I wasn't implying that he was the next coming of Shaq or in any way was going to turn this sinking ship around, I just don't feel that he's as useless as people made him out to be. And considering he's played maybe 10 minutes of basketball altogether in the last 25 games I don't necessarily think the criticism is warranted.

Is this what we've been reduced to? Debating the merits of the very last motherfucker on the end of the bench?
This is about as important as the Nathan Jawai argument.
It makes no difference who the 12-15th men are.
If Jake is slamming guys around in the odd practice then he's doing his job.

My point is that we don't need to criticize Jake for sucking. He's supposed to suck, and suck he does. For more money than most of us see in a decade.
