Always love listening to Jack. :jack:

Same thing that scares him about Ross scares me. He doesn't already have enough to be a great player in this league. What kind of drive does he have to make it to the next level? Is he going to be one of those guys just happy to be here and never paying the price? You compete level doesn't have to be Kobe, but please don't be Charlie Villanueva.

loved the discussion on ross. i wonder if jack knows something about ross that we don't.

I find that Jack tends to sugar coat things when he is on tv, but on the radio he says (or so it seems) everything the way he sees it.

awesome discussion. His comparison on Ross vs Wade was interesting, because a lot of people say Wade in the past never focused and constantly floated around on D.

Love that line!!

One thing rubs me against the grain and I usually 100% agree with what Jack says
But here he claims that to guarantee 5-6-7 seed in playoffs we will have to run starters for 38 minutes. I guess he trusts them but not the bench nor Casey rotations.

My stance is that to be in playoffs we have to avoid injuries and not put too much on starters, find an extra gear off the bench. We have good depth and skillset there, utilize it properly.

Intereting. Liked the points out on KL and TR. I do agree that there's no other way, but for KL to stay healthy and start playing good basketball and glue the whole team together.

When it comes to T.Ross, I think if he worked hard this summer, he should surpass L.Fields on rotation and he will be next on the court after DD and Rudy this season, that's a minor move that needs to be made if we want to move forward!

I agree with Jack completely. The starters will have to play anywhere from 30 to 38 minutes a night for this team to get those playoff spots (hell, even 8th place alone). If any starter suffers a long term injury playoff hopes will dwindle even more so.

Sklills and talent ? Look at our bench lol :ag:

Seriously though, we have LF, Ross, DJ, TH etc... and some other guys....If we count on the bench we are fooling ourselves. None of them is scorer, maybe Novak from 3 who is a so called specialist...

Shifty.py 08-27-2013 04:58 PM

Fields, Augustin and Hansborough were starters

Your stance is proof of concept for Jack"s claim.
Last year our starters held their own against conference playoff teams, and suffered breakdowns in key units of the first team. With poor spares, our second team was our achilles.
Beyond our starting 5, we don't have credible replacements or a cohesive unit. The current team will make a bit of noise in the regular season at times, maybe go on a short run or two, you know, great hope building entertainment.

Stop it.

Those guys were tank starters.
Toronto Raptors won the east ... by default.

Our best bench players are Tyler Hansbrough and Landry Fields. That alone screams tank.

I agree too!

The bench is for foul trouble & to give rest to the starters if they are holding there shorts nothing more.
