Jack Armstrong: Raptors are a healthy NBA franchise

Quote:
3. CONTRACTION: You've all heard the discussion out there about the possibility of NBA Teams being contracted. We've heard it in baseball, hockey and football. It's always going to be out there. Let me tell you something -- I'm fed up with the few (and I emphasize few) misinformed lazy media folks like Jackie MacMullan who states on ESPN Radio the other day that she could see Toronto as a market that could be contracted. Are you kidding me? Please do just a little homework! I like MacMullan's work a whole lot and was baffled how she could say something like that.

a. Look at the attendance numbers over the years-- top half every year.
b. Look at last year's local TV ratings-- #3 in the entire NBA with a 40-42 team!
c. Look at the website hits-- top five every year in the NBA.
d.Look at the size of the market-- fourth-largest market in the NBA.
e. Look at the financial commitment and arena/surrounding area improvements and stability of ownership.
f. Look at the franchise value of the Raptors versus other NBA Teams -- quite healthy!

just wish that ACC would be a bit bigger,
too small and it doesn't look that nice.

Capacity for the NBA is almost 20,000 which is just fine. What don't you like about the building itself?

the fact that Tdot is the place where everyone beyond the American border populate to watch a professional ball game, yet the MLSE fails to set up a single proper entertainment source around the building; seriously, all ACC has is that little red zone inside gate 1. Where's the big momentum before the game? Where can the crowds get pumped up? Surely not in a caged 1/3 with 3 differented heighted nets, where kids usually show up.

True, my main issue for Raptor games is the atmosphere within the game. I wish they would dim the lights (ala LAL, Knicks), too effin bright imo,i also hate our boring floor which is a little nit picky but oh well. lol

the bar is majorly under the hold of 3rd party share holders, if im not mistaken, which is essentially privatized.
the condos.. seriously? what's it gonna do? get people to squander $300,000 after every game? do the condos belong to MLSE, i doubt it.
screen outside the stadium... with all due respect, almost every NBA stadium holds'em.

in the podium isnt there a Real Sports Apparel, bar, Longos
its to put more foot traffic around the arena
not every arena has a screen outside

the area is small, which limits what they can do
they traded off size for a good location

and MLSE does own the condos along with another pension plan company

yes. because the 100 bucks that i pay for the game is not enough to cover all the benefits that other fans in different cities are enjoying.

it would be cool to have it bigger, but when most of the games are not sold out, or are technically sold out but the attendance is not full, then it doesn't warrant a bigger building

they cant build it large cause they want to keep demand high i.e. ticket prices
and they dont want to maintain a 25k seat arena cause of the cost

And how many Arenas in the NBA have 25,000 seats? If i'm not mistaken the Palace of Auburn hills is the biggest in the NBA and if i'm not mistaken it holds 22,000.

The average is around 20,000. And the Raptors sellouts are just under 20,000.

The ACC is the 9th largest arena in the NBA.

when I watch the ACC on T.V it looks like one of the best out there, especially the way the court looks with the seating,
