Iverson?

Quote:

As the Pistons continue to struggle with Allen Iverson, some general managers believe that president Joe Dumars is looking to trade the future Hall of Famer.

"They are playing with no emotion," said a team executive. Iverson "has killed the team's spirit with his style of play."

The same executive believes that Dumars would trade Iverson if he was able to get a similar expiring contract in return.

I can't pretend he'd solve all our problems but as an expiring without the Banks contract, I'd prefer this to the Marion deal

JO could work in Detroit to create an epic defensive lineup, Stuckey/Hamilton/Prince/JO/Sheed.

INSIDER 01-25-2009 09:03 PM

someone bump my 'iverson is a loser' thread.
lolol

Superjudge 01-25-2009 09:03 PM

Are you seriously using an article that articulates the fact that Iverson, after forever, is still killing teams with his fucking ridiculous me-first BS act, as an article that is supporting your assumption that he may be JUST WHAT TORONTO NEEDS TO GET THEIR TEAM GAME GOING?

bad guy

Windex 01-25-2009 09:03 PM

been talkin bout this all day, good to see someone preferring an AI trade compare to getting Marion and Banks. They both have bad attitudes, depends on which one you want for the rest of the season.

Superjudge 01-25-2009 09:05 PM

WOW.

I'm speechless.

Ugo Ferst 01-25-2009 09:05 PM

Iverson can definately slash, i dont think either will make us a contender, but i think Iverson could make us more fun, depending on which AI shows up

First time for everything.

Remember AI has been to the finals, Marion has not.

N64 01-25-2009 09:07 PM

Wow...AI...:dead:

LX 01-25-2009 09:09 PM

Iverson would be useless, but longterm it might be the better deal, in terms of netting more come next season.

Bmats7 01-25-2009 09:10 PM

We don't need a 30 year old taking 30 shots a game.

Superjudge 01-25-2009 09:10 PM

Are any of you actually serious?

If you are, have you all been recently bit on the arm by an ice cold friend, who refuses to talk, and has brains seeping out the back of his head.

You may be a Zombie.

Seek Help.

Kirby 01-25-2009 09:11 PM

He does give us the go-to, clutch wingman we've been looking for..
Expires in 3 months. Why not give him a try?:dancing:

I'd love to feed Bargs for 30 shots a game

I know you are joking and its alittle early for a April's fool joke.:a stir it smiley:

insight_tor 01-25-2009 09:14 PM

This is the same like Marbury deal ... gives you early cap space and no additional bad contracts. Raptors can play Marbury or Iverson but if BC/JT feels like they would destroy the team for personal stats than just put them on inactive list.

Windex 01-25-2009 09:15 PM

Marion and Iverson are both rentals and both have attitudes

Iverson 18 pts/5.3 ast/3.2 reb
Marion 12/9/1.9

Ugo Ferst 01-25-2009 09:15 PM

We arent winning shit, face it, with AI we get more $ freed up faster without the horrible banks deal.

Amen to that

Ugo Ferst 01-25-2009 09:19 PM

+ MLSE might like the star power Iverson still has. For a limited time and a limited buzz.

A run at the title or a run at the playoffs? Ive been saying the playoffs are possible, going deep, not possible. We would be in a better position down the road trading for iverson, getting the $ freed up + high pick and let BC work his supposed magic in the offseason, then making a run at the playoffs and perhaps squeezing in and losing again 1st round, crappy pick or even worse, just missing them and getting a crappy pick.

They also voted in McGrady and Bush was elected twice so people sometimes don't have the best judgment. But I still want AI over Marion.

MTO 01-25-2009 09:31 PM

If JO stays healthy (and that's a big "if") we need neither Marion nor AI. Iverson we don't need period - too late in his career, not a team player, and Marion won't be that much of an upgrade at the wing over what we have right now, in that he is NOT a creator.

Ahhh, if only

Belsius 01-25-2009 09:56 PM

Both Marion and iverson arent the "best" teammates. Iverson is better offensevely and we have someone for the last moments of the game. Also his contract benefits as more, but he would make us sit Parker instead of Moon and he cant defend at all. With Marion you get better defense and rebound and decent offense. Plus Parker stays in the starting line up. His contract comes with Bancks so thats pretty bad,

Iversons contracts end in 2010. I dont see BC waiting that much.

I would go with Marion because he doesnt need that many shots so he wont stop bargs from his development really.

Lets take Josh Howard please.:)

Krazy Ivan 01-25-2009 10:07 PM

I wouldn't take AI on my street ball team little less NBA team... he is a spoiled cancerous pussy.

Dann38 01-25-2009 10:08 PM

Marion? Iverson? Howard?
Aren't there any non-problem children available who can help this team?

Sadly, it seems like not.

Ah - I thought I read that Iverson's contract was done this year, but it was probably me reading poorly, since I also remember him in that list of 2010. It's not worth waiting, and you make a great point about AP.

Maybe with all these characters, a multi-team deal could happen.

LX 01-25-2009 10:21 PM

WHOA! It wasn't me - I just checked the stupid list and AI is unrestricted in 2009. Still don't know where he fits in the rotation.

Kirby 01-25-2009 10:27 PM

Stick Parker in there for Amir :mischief:

SparkPlug 01-25-2009 10:34 PM

I had posted this trade idea before and was told that Detroit wouldn't want JO after the Detroit-Indiana fiasco. Think it will matter?

Kuzzy 01-25-2009 10:48 PM

Ill take him
wouldnt be a bad experiment
contract expires and we could probably make a run for it
but less touches for Boshargni
