It's Time to Stop Booing Vince!

Anybody ever wondered why he has big games at the ACC? It's because of us. The fans. The boos don't make him intimdated, it makes him modivated. We all know that when this guy ain't modivated, he my as well not suit up. But because we continue to boo him, he continues to scorch us. Or he does the other little things. Its all a big challenge for him. Vince vs. Raptors Nation. So far, Vince is winning. Not to mention that the last time Vince suited up for the Raps was in 2004. Its been 5, almost 6 years. Time to let it go fellow Raptors fans. I know I have.

If we keep this guy quiet when we play the Magic, that have a much bigger chance at beating the Magic.

Thats all. Just thought I'd say that.

Good point DK.

Vince is so smooth when he plays. He's a good passer... can hit unbelievable shots and plays with the flow of the game.

He attacks the rim, swings the ball, can post up smaller gaurds etc. I'm just thankful for the times I got to watch him when he still had hops and was awesome.

We can't beat the Magic whether Vince lights us up or not!

I think the boos induced some ill-advised shots from Vince today. Everyone who gets booed claims it motivates them; what would you expect? For them to admit it emotionally distresses them?..Vince is just a great player..his play has little to do with boo dynamics.

By the way, I think the fans were actually saying Boo-urns.

I was actually cheering on VC today. I did it mostly to get a rise out of my homeboys but still...isn't about time people got over this whole I hate VC thing? I do believe the booing motivates the dude. He kills us every time.

VC is still a pussy though.

When Turkoglu gets booed in Orlando we might see some inspiration from him.

Guys and gals, the boos really aren't the main factor. What matters the most is whether the Raps play decent defense on VC. And today, believe it or not, they actually did a pretty good job. VC took 24 shots to get his 24 points. He was 9/24 from the field which is %36. Carter was 0/5 from three point range. We let him get in the lane too much in the second half, but overall he did not play efficiently. The Raps had a really good chance to win today's game, but they didn't knock down shots that have been falling all year. Regardless of how NBA.com or other reporters try to spin it, Vince did not kill us. He didn't kill Boston the other night, either. Vince has been brutal the last few games.

Overall, in both New jersey arena and the ACC, Vince has had some monster games against Toronto. But at just the ACC, this is what he did prior to today. This is just the ACC games where the boos occured. Carter's performance has more to do with the team the Raps put out against Vince than it does with the boos. If the Raps don't play D, then of course Vince will do well. So would Wade or Kobe.

In 04-05, the Raps sucked. Carter came back and lit up the Raps for 39 pts in his sole appearance at the ACC.

In 05-06, the Raps again sucked. Carter shot the ball well in both games (9 for 17 and 18 for 35) and had one monster game in which he dropped 42.

In 06-07, the Raps won the Atlantic Division and had pretty good team. Carter subsequently struggled. He shot the ball very poorly in the two regular games at the ACC: 4/17 and 5/15. Carter only managed 12 points the first game and then 17 points in the second.

Carter also struggled at the ACC a bit during the playoffs in 06-07. In game 1, he shot 5/19, scoring only 16 points. In game 2, he shot 8/24 and scored 19 points. He bounced back in game 5, scoring 30 pts on 10/22 shooting, but a lot of those baskets came when the Raps had a double digit lead and prematurely started to relax. The Raps were up by like 25 after the first quarter.

In 07-08, the Raps still had a playoff calibre team. As a result, Carter did not have great success at the ACC. In his first visit, he shot 5/15 and scored 15 pts. He shot the ball alright in his second visit that year, but he still only scored 21 pts and only managed 2 assists. Not a big impact.

In 08-09, the Raps...well...they sucked again. Vince....he...well...lit the Raps up again. Remember the game in which he dunked off the out of bounds play to win the game? Yeah, he dropped 39 pts that game. The Raps defense was atrocious. Smitch got fired a couple of weeks later. In the second meeting Carter played so-so, but did what was required for his team to win. He put up 20/10/5 that night.

The team the Raps put on the court is the most important variable, in my opinion. When Carter faced a playoff calibre team, 5 out of 7 games the Raps held him below 20 pts (that includes the 3 playoff games). When the Raps stunk, Carter fucking lit them up and made them look silly.

I said it before and i'll say it again; drop the defense system and stick to what they have so far and practice on offense. Seriously get their offense back together and leave the dirty defense work to Reggie, Wright, Amir, and Pops. Sigh!! Kinda wish they kept Shawn Marion; I miss him as a raptor and his sick plays. To tell you the truth I hate Turk ever since when he was still a Magic player but at the same time I kinda wish we had him because hes a good shooter and game maker; but for some reason right now he doesn't seem too awesome like he use to. I know he has a bad hip right now; plus he was tired from playoff and playing for his Turk team; but seriously what happen to that spark? Does he need more time still? Also what happen to Jack play from the Miami game has it's like shut off again? JT should make Belli start rather then DeMar because he not ready yet. Lastly I have high hope for this team and still do but I do hope for one day that all of them will play at the level we want to see them play at.

I think the booing adds so much intensity to the game. It creates a playoff like atmosphere which could, or at least should, fire up the home team. Unfortunately, they don't seem to respond to it.

Just wondering, do you have like a Vince shrine in your house or soemthing? If not, you should consider getting one :P

The first two quarters he was playing horrible, and he was only 9 for 24. Shooting 38% isn't really lighting us up.

9/24.... should have booed more.

More Vince shots and less JJ Reddick shots = Raps win.

I get a kick out of a lot of what I'm reading.

Carter missed some shots early, and only because he was a bit off.

Once he got going, he was torching toronto in every aspect of the game, EVERY ASPECT.

The guy was killing toronto. Period. And smiling and laughing at the fans that were talking shit on the sidelines. This is SUCH and obvious and old rule. Don't wake sleeping giants.

It's clear tht the sad hatred for Vince Carter coulds a lot of minds on this board to the poin tthat you cannot see the forrest for the tree's.

Wake up kids.

No, I don't have a VC shrine. And if Bosh can lead this team to a playoff series win, this Vince Carter dp is going down and a Bosh one is going up. Vince is the man, he's so freaking smooth and I enjoy watching him play. He reminds me of a brazilian soccer player.

And he didn not play terrible at all, he played great as SJ mentioned. Basketball isn't just about shooting, if it were, we'd be one of the best teams in the league. He moves the ball around to the open man perfect, he got into the lane, he hit some crazy off balance shots that killed our momentum and... he got the win.

yes im realllyyyyy tired of people booing Vince. Like it's SO old and over with, it should of been stopped after like the first season he joined New Jersey. Now it's just plain annoying and irritating when fans boo him. I was telling my friend who's a magic fan, "the people booing vince Carter are such retards..." what is the point like everyone notices, when they boo vince, he steps up his game...almost ALWAYS. Second of all, its old and done with. Stop...like just stop.

I will boo, I will continue to boo...I will boo after he is retired. I don't give 2 shits whether or not in motivates him, or it makes me look like a "loser fan". I fucking hate his guts, and until such a time that he comes out and tells me personally he is sorry and regrets acting like a total piece of shit, I will act however I damn well please.

Fuck him, fuck his fanboys, fuck people telling me to get over it.
