Default It's a bit early, but lets talk playoffs guys.

Ok, so yea it's early and we're not even in the playoff picture at the moment (hear me out guys!) but since things are getting a little stale in Raptorland (aside from the wins of course) its time to bring the ultimate subject at hand and put it on the table right now.

Looking at the current standings its safe to say the Cavs, Magic and Celtics will remain the top 3 teams in the east. Everyone agrees to that right? After that it could run Pistons or Hawks in no particular order. The question at hand right now is which of the other teams in the east could and will clinch the other 3 playoff spots.

There's no doubt that we have something going now. Whether it be trade via JO or not, the way Bargs has played as of late has not disappointed. Just imagine JO coming off the bench in place of Voshkul, playing the way he was prior the "injury", things looks really good.

But back to playoff talk. Most of us would agree that as long as Dwayne Wade has legs and an arm, the Heat will make the playoffs. Now that leaves us 2 very possible spots in the playoffs. At the moment, I see these spots going to the Raps and 76ers based on experience and just the way these teams are playing right now. Of course, I may not be right but considering the fact the only real teams competing for those spots are the Bucks, Bulls and Nets, our chances are decent because these teams in particular soley rely on 1 or 2 individuals to win the games for their teams and we know with this league injuries eventually come along.

So as of now, in my opinion, IF the Raptors make the playoffs, I say that they make anywhere from 6th to 8th seed. What's this mean? It means we play either the Celtics, Magic, or Cavs in the playoffs.

Now I'm not going to bother comparing us to the Cavs, everyone knows what Lebron will do to us single handedly. I wanna talk about the Magic and Celtics. We've proven we can beat the Magic, and we've also proven that we can compete with the Celtics (our first game). Who do we want to match up with, this year and why? Can we steal a playoff series against either of these teams?

Let's leave out the negativity out of this thread and discuss our best matchup for the playoffs, assuming we come 6th to 8th.

Personally, I don't think we can with this current roster albeit injuries, however I do believe that we can actually have an entertaining and competitive series if we play with either. I just wanna see what you other guys think, based on my inductive thinking.

Depends on whether the Celtics get back on track or just remain old and shallow

Btw I think the top 4 are set but 5th is up for grabs, I have a good feeling the Hawks come back down to earth in the next couple months. Not that it matters. The Pistons would beat us too. I think we could also end up in 6 and play them too by the way, they're not *that* far behind and look great now

But I would choose the Magic.

cavs and spurs in the finals, a rematch of 2007.
the cavs end the Spurs "odd year" championship streak while lebron becomes Finals MVP.

I picked Magic vs Hornets as the anti LA vs Boston pick. But based on what I have seen this season I will stick with the Lakers and take Cavs in place of Magic

Magic Any of them, but magic if i have to pick

I think from the Raptors' persepctive, any of those teams you will take if you chose now. WHy? Because you arent even in the playoffs. BUt even more than that is because those three have shown there is not much seperation between them. To say you dont want the cavs because of 1 person contradicts the statement about the other three teams that rely on 1 or two players.

I think the Raptors now and always have been able to compete when they have desire and confidence.

I just dont think they can beat any of those teams over 7 games at this point in time. They just dont have enough experience with the changes that have been made this year. That will change by seasons end but i still dont think we would take 4 games with any of these three.

Now, who would I like to see us play? I would like to see us play Magic. Not because i think they are any more beatable than the other two, but rather because I am a fan of Triano and Van Gundy and I would really enjoy seeing how they react from game to game over a 7 game series. Lets see how good Triano really is and see what adjustments he makes, etc. Smitch never seemed a guy to make adjustments fast enough, b ut I think Triano will be better. But anyways, it will be interesting to see.

Another thing is watching over 7 games howard, JO, bosh, bargnani, hedo, Calderon, nelson, etc. JO vs Baby Shaq should be interesting

I don't care who our opponent will be, I have faith in Triano to make it difficult for any opponent.
Did you notice how Bosh mentioned "good playoff seed" after game? 16-21, 11th at the time, with history of losing won games... and he's talking about getting a high seed.
MVP is back?

Nope, who ever are opponent is who ever are opponent.
I learned from last playoffs don't want to face a team.
We wanted Orlando and we got Orlando back then what happened?

I think Toronto could beat Orlando this year. If they keep buying into what Triano is preaching right now, adding O'Neal, and Solomon and Ukic's defence on the ball will make a difference.

The only way that happens is if Bargs keeps it up and BC is able to trade JO for wing help and possibly a backup PG!If the right deal is made we have a good chance.

With the lineup we have i don't think we could beat ORL, CLE or BOS in a best of 7 series. Upgrades would have to be made to push either of them to 6 games at least imo

Cavs vs Lakers final

Kobe vs Lebron both fighting as top MVP candidates and a championship

WOW... would just be INSAINE....

Definitley worth a drive down to Cleveland to watch a finals game.

I say if we are gonna get into the playoffs but only as a 8th seed, then we might as well not go at all. We will face either boston or Cleveland and get swept so I'd rather go into the lottery

lol we win a couple games under Jay now he is great, we are playoff bound and going to give the world hell!!! I wont comment on this stuff but make one prediction, Pistons will pass Orlando in the standings and make the ECF's. Everybody underestimating them.
