Default Interesting Raptors coverage on NBA.com

I stopped by RealGM to see what craziness is being said over there and noticed a thread about NBA.com's Toronto draft preview video. Here are some interesting quotes from the panelists/analysts in said video:

Lawrence Frank:
Quote:
Of all the free agents, the likelihood is greater with him [Bosh] getting a S&T
That was within the context of whether or not Bosh would just walk, so Frank was not entirely knocking the Raps. He's suggesting they have the best chance of getting something out of the FAs that might insist on leaving.

Now for some Rick Kamla:

Quote:
I had a hard time with Hedo losing his job.....
Quote:
Hedo Turkoglu is worlds better than Sonny Weems
Quote:
This team [Toronto] is a hot mess
Quote:
At the 1 [pg spot] they have two good ones but not a great one
Oh, and he totally ripped Bargs....
Quote:
He doesn't like double teams
I'm actually not dissapointed about the PG comment. I hope league GMs agree with Kamla that Jose is "good." It would think that means Jose has at least some reasonable trade value. I've been worried that some teams don't even think he's "good." And people thinking Hedo was jobbed might be a good thing, too, since it would suggest that they don't see the extent of his douchiness. I hope other teams feel that way, then they might take him.

LINK to NBA.com video page

I can't post a direct link to the video due to the manner in which NBA.com video works. The video in question is the Toronto draft preview. You can find it a page or two after all the videos of draft prospects that were added on Sunday.

Of course Hedo is a better player than Sonny.
But is he 10 times better as his salary suggests? And is he allowed to sulk and bitch about the team then, Rick?

Team is a mess indeed, with many PGs and Hedo, but not having "main" ball handler.
One of Hedo/Jose was unnecessary. BC went for redundancy of Jose/Jack/Hedo after last years failure of Solomon/Ukic, but it made life hard for Triano. At least one of them should have been traded before deadline.

Doesn't sound to me like they're completely hip to the Hedo situation and how poorly he really played.

I'm picking Weems before Hedo
Weems defense>Hedo defense
we have to take defense into consideration
I don't know why everybody is saying he didn't have the ball in his hands to show his skillset
he had to much the ball to show everyone that he was a master of the turnover ability in clutch time
every player could have had the ball in offense
we were scoring in everyway
it was our defense the problem
we need to think about defense this summer because we can already score when we want to

Kamla is a usually fairly generous with his comments towards the Raptors...

now sure how that's a rip? True, Bargnani was overwhelmed by double teams last season, but that's almost a compliment - attracting double teams is not something many nba players do, and it's a sign that the other team respects your shot creating ability.

And for Bargnani it was a first in his career, a situation he never encountered before. If double teams are going to give just as much trouble midway through next season, that's when you start to question his ability to handle double teams.

As far as the hot mess comment, that's was gratuituous - the main reason we're in a mess is because of CB's situation. That's not the organization's fault, and by the same standard, other teams are in a bigger mess (cleveland, miami, NYK, even Atlanta or Phoenix). If Lebron leaves, the cavs are left to build around JJ Hickson ?? If Wade leaves, I'm sure a core of chalmers and beasley will keep heat fans very excited nexr season. And for all their cap space, if all they can get this summer is Joe Johnson and David Lee, not sure NYK would be much better than us ...

Most nba teams have issues to solve this summer, our problem with turk and the jose/jack duo are not that unusual. It's the Bosh uncertainty that creates the perception of a mess, but that's not the organization's fault.

Well, in terms of making trades, those comments about Jose and Hedo might actually help the Raps. I heard his thank you card is in the mail.
