Interesting Article on Greivis Vasquez

Looks like someone has been whispering delusions of grandeur into his ear.

Doesn't sound like he wants to be a backup.

Wake-up call: Greivis Vasquez will return with basketball camp | Comcast SportsNet Washington

This is a huge summer. Obviously, Kyle Lowry (is an) unrestricted free agent. I'm a restricted free agent … Hopefully they keep the team together," Vasquez said about Toronto, which was eliminated in seven games of a first-round playoff series vs. the Brooklyn Nets, to WNST. "You don’t know. What I know is that I have one of the greatest times this past season with the Toronto Raptors. After coming off a tough injury I finished up the season very very strong and I did my thing.

"Ultimately I want to be, hopefully in Toronto. I still got to give myself a chance to be a starting point guard. I feel like I can do many many different (things) now that I’m healthy. I have to give myself another shot. I have to earn that. I understand perfectly the things that I have to do for me to be the point guard that I want to be."
I hear no delusions of grandeur in there at all.

I guess Toronto really boosted his self esteem :dead:

I like it.. elite players usually want to be the best on the court every night. If he wants to start then he'll prove it and that'll create healthy competition if Lowry returns.

We should be glad he said this. Nobody should be content with a back-up role if they want to be the best, no matter how effective that role used to be.

Poor Lowry... No luck with Spanish-speaking backups... ;)

Probably because there weren't any.

Yeah, I don't see any at all either. I hope we can keep both PG's

honestly, i think MU will S&T him, because he is our best trade chip if we re-sign Lowry.

and we need to upgrade our roster if we want to compete in the next two season for a championship !

I love when Lowry and Vasquez play on the court together. Obviously he shouldn't start there, but there is still more than enough time for Vasquez at the backup 1 and 2 spot for him. Great assurance aswell if someone gets injured.

GV can yak when makes his 3's reliably. At the moment he has shown us that he is a fair to good back-up at the 1 and a lucky chucker at the 2.
I am glad that he has dreams/goals, and has put it out there to "speak it into existence".

Why would MU make a hole to fill a hole?

JoeyJoJo Shabbadu 06-27-2014 09:06 PM

If he gets a shot at starting its for a bad team. He's basically our sixth man and plays lots of minutes inj the fourth when it matters. He's coming back.
