Interested in Boozer? Be Careful

In light of the Bosh for Boozer talk as of late, I thought this was an interesting read this morning.

After all, he's a mercenary player. Just ask the Cavaliers.

But this surprised me: There are teams that are interested in Boozer.

According to published reports identified as rumors — we're talking high journalism here — Boozer is being wooed by the Toronto Raptors, New jersey Nets and Detroit Pistons. They're not exactly dream teams, are they. Where's Oklahoma City?

Other well-paid veterans at this point in their careers are usually trying to find a winning team; not Boozer. Just show him the money, baby. He wants ca-ching, not a ring.

He might dump the Jazz — who regularly make the playoffs — for the Nets (34-48 last season), the Raptors (33-49) and the Pistons (39-43).

He should wear an expiration date on his jersey: Best if used by (fill in the date). He's about as reliable as Wall Street, and he's got more baggage than Paris Hilton on holiday.

And now he thinks he deserves a raise and a long-term deal. You can't say this guy doesn't have nerve.

Well, if you were expecting loyalty to the Jazz, you should call the Cleveland Cavaliers. Boozer has been here, done this. Five years ago, he was the property of the Cavaliers, with one year left on his contract. With the option of allowing Boozer to become a restricted free agent after the final season of his contract or keeping him under contract for one more year for just $695,000, they claim to have made a verbal agreement to waive the final year of his contract and sign him for six years and $39 million. But after the Cavs cut him, instead of re-signing with his old team, Boozer fled to the Jazz for a 6-year, $70 million deal. He denies any backroom deal was made, but as the Cavs said at the time, why would they cut him loose when they could have had him for another year and for a bargain price.

"In the final analysis, I decided to trust Carlos and show him the respect he asked for," said Cleveland's owner at the time, Gordon Gund. "He did not show that trust and respect in return."

Now Boozer finds himself in a similar situation with the Jazz, except this time he has the option either to play out the final year of his contract at $12.7 million or sign with another team now.

Buyer beware.

we'll if we get him and he becomes pretty valuable during the season, then BC should not even bother trying to woo him when he becomes a FA.
He's gonna bolt like Baron Davis no matter the record.

He's a better defender than Bosh but on the whole, he's a downgrade. Only way we benefit from a Boozer trade is if Brewer is included in the deal and I don't see that happening. CJ Miles, maybe.

Boozer is a special player... "VC-like" special.
he's one of those rear athletes that could be a phenominal force in this league if they just decided to actually give a crap.
and just like VC, theres no chance in hell Boozer's attitude will change anytime soon, and he will never be an NBA great.
at 6'9+, 240 pounds, muscle, great nose for rebounding - he could have been considered one of the best PF's in this decades NBA. instead, he turns out to be a subpar player with a shitty attitude.... a player who only looks out for himself and doesnt really give a crap about anything else.

I do not want boozer on this team.
he's going to be the next Baron Davis and will be injured baggage for the team that decides to overpay for his services. sure he'll give you a few gems... a few 30/15 nights, but those will be once every month or two. then you'll see him in his suit at the end of the bench picking his nails.

he has zero passion, and this team needs to stay clear of players like him.
he would kill us if he came here.

im not saying i'd rather want boozer than bosh

but if he plays better d, scores only 2 points less a game, and grabs 3 more boards a game, how is he a downgrade? AND he will cost less

the only thing i can think about is hes more injury prone but i think boshs body is gonna start falling apart soon ala jermaine oneal

wow, what's with all the hate for boozer?
The guy is an undersized, rather slow PF who makes (imo) the best of his physical abilities. There's nothing about him that screams superstar.

Now compared to Bosh he's probably CB's equal as an offensive player while being worse on defense. Boozer has a killer mid range jumper and much better post skills. Obviously Bosh has the quickness advantage who earns him FTs but boozer shoots an insane FG%.

but all this is irrelevant when you consider that boozer has serious injury concerns and he's also fairly old. The only way I can see boozer here if Bosh wants to leave and we could get boozer + another good player in return.
