Default Inside NBA/NBA Gametime talk more about Raptors than Toronto Broadcasts...

Not really an article, just something I noticed and its ridiculous. Just saw Inside the NBA and Ernie, Shaq and them really love the Raptors and talk more about them than broadcasts on TSN, SN and Score. Only time we will hear basksetball or the Raptors is if we are watching a basketball segment on the Score... /Rant

On a positive note they believe that the Raptors should have a better record and love the intensity they play with day in and out. Shaq also said that DD should be an Allstar (If he was on a better team).

one thing I really like about DD - the dude's durable, he's rarely injured.

Not sure if it will be posted on youtube, but there will probably be a replay on NBA TV. This was during the Raptors/Magic highlight. Surprised they even said that much and even talking about how many games they are away from the 8th spot too Lol

I just saw it. Kenny said that IF Derozan was on a better team he'd be mentioned in the all-star discussion. Shaq said very little about the Raptors, he said "let me tell you, Orlando's record doesn't show it but that's a hard working team credit to Jaque Vaughn, they play hard. They're better than their record shows".

Shaq's comments were about Orlando, odd because while he was talking they had a pic up of Derozan with his stats. lol

The only positive thing was the Derozan stuff from Kenny. Still good to see.

Shocking that some RFers might misinterpret something they don't hear with their own ears!

Sad though on the morning after DD's greatest moment, there's nothing local to download on the game save a small 11am spot with Dwayne.

nobody does but raptor fans, its not even a toronto team or Canada's team, its just a small raptor fan base, and of course a lot has to do with Canada and Toronto being in love with hockey, which in some ways is like the mortal enemy of basketball in this city because of the fact that both sport seasons occur at the same time so you kind of have to pick 1 sport to focus on and frankly its a little bit of a race thing where a majority of the hockey athletes are white and have a white fan base and in basketball it is a black majority, but in this city it is a white majority fan base so its hockey, also it is an age thing and a lot of the older people (baby boomers) who spend the money on sports are hockey fans because they grew up with it, basketball fans are usually the younger demographic
but since most fans want hockey and most channels want to make as large a profit, they're going to focus on hockey
in reality, the raptor game broadcasts don't make the channels a lot of money, other canadian sports like curling probably get better ratings when they're on, which is why you see TSN push a lot of games to TSN2 when there are other smaller sports to show on TSN

Thats the fucked up part about sports coverage in this city. Basketball is views upon with the same respect and attention a sport like cricket gets in this city...the sad reality is that there was more NHL talk throughout the lockout then there was basketball talk. Fan590 Kept hockey central on for an HOUR, every day even once we surpassed the 100th day on the lockout. Not only that but Hoops, which I think is a great hour of basketball talk in only on one day a week.......at fucken 8-9pm!!!!!!!!

The saddest part is that the fan covers OTHER NHL franchises more frequently then they do the Raptors...

all media outlets and channels air what gets the most viewers or listeners, and trust me, they dont give a shit what it is. Its about advertising, not keeping people happy.

Majority rules man.

Its sad when NBA TV shows more highlights than the Score or any other broadcasts. I hate how when Im watching highlights all I see are 1 or 2 clips then its back to hockey where they show all 3 periods and its 3mins per w/ stats.. ridiculous. i.e., the Raptors/Magic game for highlights they skipped right to near the end of the 4th and showed 3-4 clips w/ stats

i'm not disagreeing at all, but to put this into perspective, what would you show on tv, a show where 1 or 2 out of 10 people want to watch or a show where 8 or 9 out of 10 people want to watch, that's basically bball vs hockey right there
