Thumbs up INDYSTAR: O'Neal will be an All-Star in 2008-09.

I'll go one step further. Jermaine, Bosh and Jose will all be all-stars this season. OK, not likely but one can dream, can't they?

O'Neal, who has spent the past three offseasons rehabbing after surgery, is finally healthy and concentrating this summer on conditioning.

More important, though, he has been given an emotional jump-start, a chance to compete for a long-shot championship, an opportunity to play with a solid point guard (Jose Calderon) and an established forward (Chris Bosh).

I'll make this prediction: O'Neal will be an All-Star in 2008-09.

If we win big, then seeing all three could happen. None of them would get voted on so that makes the odds a little tougher, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out.

Still, what makes me happiest is hearing that being an All-Star is not even a concern for JO. It's not like it completely defines what Jose and Bosh are all about, but they make a little too much of it, when they really should be looking at what really matters most and nothing else. The funny thing is that they'll understand that if they start winning big, and of course that's the very thing that would make it likelier for them all to make it as All-Stars.

The title of all-star is unimportant. The starting line up (barring injuries) is almost guaranteed to be Howard, Garnett, Lebron, Wade and likely Arenas. Beyond that, spots are limited for each position (especially bigs) so deserving players are almost always going to get left off.

Realistically, we're probably going to be looking at Bosh in the game again and O Neal and Jose on the outside looking in. If Toronto is a top 3 team in the East at that time, then we possibly could see a 2nd guy getting in, and maybe a 3rd if all 3 are putting up big numbers.

Regardless, it's great to hear more positive stuff about JO and his committment to excellence, especially when it's coming from a place that could just as easily have slammed him as soon as he left town.

But the thing is that if O´neal plays good enough he will be in the all star game because you have to remember that he will be playing center and h is the second best C to Howard. Who else in the east can compete with O´neal for the backup position? Last all star game there was none. I think Calderon will be on the outside looking in not Oneal. I really want to see Sam Mitchell coaching the East.

if O'neal is healthy and puts up respectable numbers (in or around a double/double) he will be voted in guaranteed.
who else is a C in the east that will get voted over him?
if he's healthy he's in.
but being an allstar means little to me, i just want a healthy JO playing hard night in, night out. if we can get that, we're definitely going to make noise.
we all know that Bosh and jose will get their jobs done, and if JO can bring some of that magic he's done in his past, then we'll all be very happy.

If Jose's an All-Star.....all 3 are All-Stars

I know that's a little too much on Jose but it wasn't intended to be offensive to him. I'm just saying I think all three are All-Stars this year. And when all 3 are All-Stars....well.....we're gonna be fuckin good this year!!!!

Bosh has some big time competition with KG, Brand, Horford and Jamison kicking around.

Jamison..Didn't he play SF last year? Or was he just in because Garnett wasn't.
Horford lol.
KG, probably in..I don't like him -_-

Jamison plays the four in Washinton. Butler plays the three...Stevenson the two, Arenas the one, Haywood the five. Jamison made the all-star game, he posted 22 and 10 last season.

Brand is a career 20 and 10 player, one of the very few in the league today. He was also a top three MVP candidate only a couple of seasons ago...

Horford averaged 10 and 10 as a rookie...Thats shooting 50% from the field...Wheres the punchline in that? I don't get it. If Josh Smith bails on the team then guess who becomes the number two option and moves from only 8 shots per game to 15? He's legit and he's poised for a huge breakout year.

So Jamison was a 2nd string behind Bosh. Ok I see that.
Brand, Naaaaaaaa. I mean he's great but he's coming back from a big injury and the guy's only 6''8. Bosh is better..
Horford is still young. He may be good but I don't see him making the all-star team this early in his career.

He's only 6'8 is your justification? Really?

Because that's held him back so much thus far...

There is no guarantee Bosh makes the All Star team. He sure as hell won't be starting unless there's another injury, so he's basically going after maybe 2 spots against those guys.

If Bosh gets injured, I can see Brand on the All Star team. That's if he doesn't get injured before Bosh does,

Bosh will definitely face stiffer competition than JO.

Well of course. The center position is where all the big guys, 7 footers are playing. It'll be hard for him. But don't forget, there are a lot of great PF's in the game as well to compete against JO.
