didn't catch the game last night, but i normally have the game on mute while multi-tasking anyways. i always though, whether it be jack or leo with chuck, that they always got carried away with themselves.

i'm a marv fan, so that alone will make me appreciate delvin over chuck.

No it won't.

Are you mad?????

Marv is totally Swirsk in comparison to the ultra-bland, boring, conservatiive talking head Devlin.

The MLSE is like many Torontonian Businesses, they all long to be washed out American, it's an inferiority complex. Devlin is no different than a majority of "offer me nothing" watered down copmmentators I have had to listen to in the last bunch of years on Raptor games I watch on satellite or the internet.

American.

Consevative.

Boring.

And don't gimme shit about his "bball IQ, he doesn't offer a god damn thing.

Bleh, say what ya want about Swirsk, but the guy is allll showbusiness, and if you think that the NBA is anything but, you're wayyyy off base my brothers!

Devlin was okay I guess but I think it is too early to judge. I put down no but that could also be because of the lighting during the game, which was horrible

while i'll miss chuck's passion a wee bit, i wont miss the fact that he started making it about him more than about the actual game.
he made himself a sideshow.
his overacting and excitement was all a gimmick... he tried making the broadcast about his quotes and persona rather than the game he was calling.
ever notice that when his "onions" and "salami and cheese" started taking off - he overused it and tried to push it as much as possible?
he got money and promotion off that shit.
he tried to be bigger than the actual game itself, and thats where he crossed the line, and lost me as a fan.
you're the commentator, period. dont try to be anything more.

I would have preferred Samuel L. Jackson.

Its too early to tell, but he is like the everyday average commentator. I miss Chuck to tell the truth, and you guys are way to harsh on him.

That said, Devlin sounds like he knows 123098123x more about the game than Chuck does.
But i prefer chuck because of his enthusiam.

But BAR NONE, THE GREATEST COMMENTATOR IS KEVIN HARLAN. Bar-fuckin'-none.

Insults ain't cool man, play nice friend!

I didn't say I loved Swirsky either.

I'm thinking a Hybrid would be nice.

Ya know, less Salami and Cheese, but more than a fart in the wind.

ps. comparing Devlin to Marv Albert is like comparing Howard Stern to LArry King.

Ain't the same man.

But I plan to give him a bunch of games, mid season I guess... If he's still a fucking robot at that point, I will have to cut him off!

It kills me when someone says Chuck didn't have enough Basketball IQ.I know enough about the game that i don't need some schmuck boring me to death with a mundane call of the game.Devlin may have a bit more basketball knowledge, but i will miss the salami & cheese, onions, canoli's and the Kaboom that was the entertainment of the Swirsk.Devlin is what we have and so be it,but he's no Swirsk.

no, the exact opposite. we had a falsely exuberant douchebag who made everything overblown and pretended to get excited. swirsk is an actor. now we have a broadcaster who actually knows his stuff and let's the game speak for itself.

whew...

Knows his stuff.Too bad he's boring when telling it.I agree Devlin just sounds like every uninteresting dullard on American broadcasts. You can know it all,but if you put people to sleep it means nothing. Now i'm really looking forward to more Jack Armstrong.Devlin & Leo will almost be unwatcheable.

Jack and Chuck were the best..The Raps aren't the Raps without Swirsk..'Trane you gotta appreciate.
I'll see how much more of Devlin you can take because everytime I see a basketball game I get bored unless it's Chuck.

i can't appreciate what he brought because it drove me nuts. i couldn't stand another minute of him. i celebrated when he left, and i'm happy he's gone.

if you can't enjoy ball without swirsk you have a major problem. it's about the game, remember, not the broadcaster. this is what chuck never learned. it's not about him at all. never was, never will be.

C'mon didn't you know?Your not much of a basketball fan,or very knowledgeable if you like an entertaining broadcaster. You need to want to listen to some boring guy drone on about stats and have a monotone cookie cutter approach to the game as if you know nothing. Don't try to be different or entertain, that's not having high basketball I.Q!!

Chuck learned one thing. Most Raptor fans were entertained by him and enjoyed his call of the games. But i guess you think those fans don't love the game enough?

I don't have a problem with watching ball without Chuck. I have a problem with robots commentating the games I watch.
Drove you nuts, made the 15,000 people a game wearing Salami and Cheese shirts happy. :P
