Default Iggy? What about Williams....

Lou Williams intends to opt out and become a free agent at the end of the season, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Said the source: "He's indicated that he's not going to pick up his option. All indications are that he's going to opt out."

Williams has not informed the Sixers of his plans.

"He has not said what he will do, but we will react to that when the time comes," general manager Rod Thorn said.

And some here think that the 76'ers don't need a guard going forward ....

He's perfect for that team. I can understand if he wants a longer deal but to leave that team would be a mistake. He fits the team perfectly and the players on that team allow him to play his game.

Wait, you would seriously pick Lou Williams over Iguodala for this team(judging by your wording, over Iggy in a starting role????). Have you ever watched Lou Williams play?

I like Williams as he can be a game changer off the bench, but he's basically a younger Crawford/Barbosa 6th man. He'll score in bunches in some games, but shoot you out of other games, and his defence is suspect. We shouldnt be looking to fill a 6th man void until we fix our starter void.

He would look even worse on D if he wasn't paired with good defenders in Jrue and Iggy. I want him no where near my team.

Ah no. Never said that. I prefer Iggy over anyone else to come in and be our SF. Lou is a pg that backs up Jrue and we need a 6th guy that can do that - we're gonna miss Barbosa (I'm hoping he comes back).

Well seeing as he's not paired with those 2 players you don't have to fret. Lou backs up Jrue and Evan Turner is the starter.

I would fret a little, since Jrue, Iggy and Williams, in different combinations as well as all three of them, have seen quite a bit of floor time together. But hey, don't let facts get in your way.

I just hope stefanski doesn't have a sweet spot for him, I think he's the one who drafted him and gave him the big contract (reasonably priced though).

Facts are Lou is a back-up but hey, let's make an issue out of nothing.

My point was that he does indeed play with those players, who help make up for some of his defensive short comings. But as you put it, 'tis a non-issue.

In any case, Lou seems like the type of guy to have inflated self worth. I wouldn't want him for a decent contract, never mind what he's going to ask for.

The kid is most likely going to be the runnerup or at worst 3rd in voting for sixth man of the year and he's earned it - even a bit of an inflated ego - the Raps can use some confidence. The guy is instant offense off the bench... something that the Raps is going to need since we don't have Barbosa anymore.

I thought Bayless was supposed to be that guy.... and likely would cost so much less too! Or we can just draft Beal and Demar can be that guy, minus the instant.

DD lacks the speed, shooting, ball handling, and court vision that Williams has.

What kind of contract would you be happy with for him to fit that role? I think he's a decent player but again he's a 40% shooter and a poor defender. I don't think I can justify giving him the contract he's likely to receive elsewhere.
