If we were to trade Bargnani, what would be a realistic trade scenario? - Page 7

I'd rather get Nene than Okafor. He can play both Pf and C, so JV can keep playing 30+ minutes a game and we'd have a legit starting Pf. He's a solid rebounder for a Pf and can hit the mid range jumper as well.

Let's compare apples to oranges... sure is fun!

Hedo:

- 30+ yrs old
- unathletic
- can't play D
- needs the ball in his hands 24/7 to be effective
- was redundant here with Bosh and Bargs (and Jose)

Ersan:

- 25 yrs old
- very athletic
- solid defender and rebounder
- doesn't need plays run for him to contribute
- perfect compliment to the rest of our team

Yeah.... it's EXACTLY the same situation. Silly me.

^given how Ross has been used by us so far, I'm not confident that Lamb's prospects would be much better in Toronto, at least in the short term.

It's time to accept Bargnani doesn't have more of an impact on the game than Emeka Okafor. He just doesn't. Bargnani's best comparison is Al Harrington, a PF who spaces the floor and can chuck you 18-20ppg while playing horribad defense and rebounding. He makes you better but the needle doesn't move that much for what he's paid.

The difference between Bargs and Okafor in terms of positional/rotational defense would be significant because of how bad Bargs is, and because that's Okafor's biggest strength. While the trade looks bad for Washington right now they have made a jump defensively, from 21 last year to 9th this year (albeit in a small sample size). Hornets have gone from 15th defensively to 30th. It's made a difference defensively. We'd lose some offense and flash, but Okafor basically gives you almost literally the anti Bargnani - a defense/rebounding responsible player who plays the right way and is a good locker-room/leader influence + a guy who fits Dwane Casey like a glove
1- I didn't give you the thumbs down, someone else did.

2- There have been other moves made by Washington and New Orleans. Okafor going in or out of their respective rosters is not the only move since last year. Therefore, I don't accept that the statistical change on the defensive end is solely a result of Okafor's presensce, or lack there of. It's tough to say exactly how much he has to do with it.

3- I accept Okafor is a better defender than Bargnani. But, he does not bring much, if anything, more to the table than Amir or Ed. So, why make that move when you can just move Bargnani to the bench and start Amir? Colangelo would do that before trading for Okafor. Use Bargs as a 6th man. On the nights he's rolling and working as a positive, you give him more minutes. On the nights he sucks, you play him 12-15 minutes only and give more time to Ed or Amir. Bringing in Okafor is just redundant when you have Amir or Ed. Bargnani at least offers a different skill set.

Trading for a crappy expiring makes more sense than bringing in Okafor, in my opinion.

Frye has dilated cardiomyopathy, he will be lucky to be alive in few years if he gets heart transplant. His basketball career is over.

Trade barg for santa claus (christmas is coming), both are useless on the field, but santa atleast has biger smile.
If talking seriously: 10% shoting and 36 minutes of playing time. Coach is either dumb or ... I'l stay with option number 1. In europe with scoring like that no coach will let you play for more than 5 minutes. And another thing, game lasted 58 minutes, and he used only 9 players... No rotation at all. It seems that he's doing everything he can for the team to lose. It was enough to let someone else play instead of barg, who could score atleast 20% of his shots and Raptors would have won without overtimes.
That lovely couple has to go. But with salary like that who the hell will trade barg...

There seems to be an influx of posters using the Lithuania flag and all the posts seem redundant and tedious.

Makes me wonder if it's just one person creating all these accounts.

All started with that one guy who was talking about how Europe had a better basketball league than the NBA or something. He disappeared, now several new posters have emerged saying the same stuff.

Well. this is my first post at this forum. Maybe you will suspect, that I am another undercover Lithuanian troll account, but trust me, I'm not. If you would read the comments in our home media about the Raptors, Kleiza and Valančiūnas you would realize how much disappointing the performance of our guys and the team has been this year. The most bashed people are Casey, Bargniani and Demar, known as "No JV in clutch moments+No Kleiza EVER", "Spaghetti chucker" and "Mr. Climb a tree" respectively. And overall, there is a tendency of no ball sharing in the Raptors, no team ball. From the games I have seen, there is a feeling at least two of the three are true. So don't hate on the Lith's when they are angry that two main pieces of our national team are not getting playing time (Kleiza) or are not getting the ball with their hands in the air, open and rolling to the rim (you can guess who).

We are not just using lithuanian flag. We are from Lithuania
You probably noticed that there's couple of guys from Lithuania in your team?Atleast I hope you did. So thats why we follow Raptors games, we care how our guys and whole team perform. And when we watch a game like the one against spurs we get alot of questions, starting with: why...., how...., wtf....
And for obvious reasons we compare it to european basketball. What is happening in Raptors right now in european team would cause alot of noise, coaches and players fired and etc... While in Raptors no changes so far, team management seems to be happy with team results. You can't argue with 10% scoring and still getting to play 36 minutes is a mistake by coach. Huge mistake. Doesn't matter if it is NBA, or some 3rd world league.

It would take Utah the most to convince, but this would be a deal that favors Toronto on paper.

Yeah.... it's EXACTLY the same situation. Silly me.
Silly me, of course a 25 years lazy player who only plays well in contract years is a much better choice than. A 30 year old one ...

Anyway, my point wasn't that ilyasova is better or worse, I just don't understand the need to replace a lazy player with another lazy player, whether that's ilyasova or okafor or whatever ...
