If we were to trade Bargnani, what would be a realistic trade scenario? - Page 2

The only possibility to get rid of Bargnani is take back a bad contract.

Bad contracts:

Richard Jefferson (but Warriors donīt need another PF)
Andris Biedrins (again)
Hedo Turkoglu
Emeka Okafor
Charlie Villanueva

...

The salaries are likely a problem. Sacramento is taking back a lot of extra salary; I don't think they have the cap room to absorb it.

I think that would be best for the team if we can't get much needed talent at the 3 spot in a package of Bargnani of some sort. We'll be just as good, if not better without Bargnani at this point, and the expiring could be useful. then this summer you have another free hand which hopefully we don't fuck up with another fields (though i'm not sure he's a bust just yet)

anyone have a list of FA this summer?

Utah has Favours playing well, Millsap and Jefferson as UFAs, and Kanter. They have a lot of depth at the 4 and 5. One or more of those guys are definitely available. We should get another team involved that would take Bargs in a three team trade.

Off the top of my head, I know that Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap and Josh Smith will be FAs this summer. If we had either one of those guys instead of Bargnani, we'd be a better team right now.

Even a second tier free agent, like Carl Landry would make us better. Carl Landry is being paid peanuts by Golden State. He will likely opt out of his contract this summer.

If we got an expiring for Bargs, we could start Amir at PF next to JV, then bring in Carl to give the bench a scoring punch. He is a 6th man of the year candidate.

There are a handful of options to bring in new front court scoring if Bargs is moved for an expiring.

1) We could pull off a trade of Bargnani and filler for Amare, but with the contract and more importantly health concerns, I wouldn't be comfortable doing that.

2) With the Bulls in the luxury tax already next year with only 8 players signed, Boozer is likely to be amnestied. We might be able to work out a larger trade involving the two.

3) Bargnani and Calderon for Gasol and Blake. The coach is going with Jamison over Gasol right now, but they're going to give Gasol some time to get adjusted to the system. The Lakers won't do this trade right now. I could see it happening if Nash ends up being out for the latter part of the season and playoffs.

i'd start landry ahead of Amir. Amir is really solid as a sixth man, really really solid. just a fighter. he's not talented enough to start though.

good list of FA, smith is ungettable imo, but with smith here instead of bargs? I think we'd be 4-5 in the conference.

I wouldn't want boozer, or staudy cause of his contract.

Landry doesn't do his damage as a starter. He is an undersized PF, who plays a bit of SF so long as he is guarding a slower bench player. He can put up 12-15 nightly off the bench really efficiently, but is not a starter. For defensive purposes, it would be much better to start Amir in that hypothetical scenario. It's not an ideal scenario, anyway. The point is, there a several things we could do and we'd probably be better off in all them, just by having Bargnani gone.

With Boozer likely to be amnestied. If we could clear up some space to make an amnesty bid similar to the Scola type deal that would be a nice pick up. 2 years at 8-12 million would be sweet.

Same here. If we could somehow work a larger trade with us receiving Deng, I'm all for it. I don't even think the Bulls would want a Boozer for Bargs straight as they would still be in the tax (they only get like 4 mill yr cap relief with Bargs). Not to mention, Andrea's not playing well and they already have Gibson as well.

Oh. Thank goodness. Ha.

I'm still hoping and praying that there's some chance we could get Pau, Eric Gordon, Love or even Amare (yes, I know it's risky).

We need a serious gamechanger here.

I honestly think a deal with the Lakers would make the most sense for both teams.

I'd wager that Bargs could thrive with D12 drawing doubles and Nash feeding him the ball.... and Jose would be an ideal backup (and another reliable shooter) for them too.

Pau + Lowry + Jonas + DD + Fields (healthy) is a solid lineup in my book.
