I agree that Pau is owed a lot of coin, too much at this point in his career. I wouldnt mind paying it to him if he wasn't 32-1/2 years old and a noticeably slowing down skill set. I like Pau but the only Gasol brother I would want is either Marc or wait 2 years and gamble on Adria from UCLA.

Are you being serious?

Pau is anything but soft. He plays very hard.

Also what do you mean 'even his little brother balls harder'?!?!

His brother is one of the best big men in the league!

if we trade bargnani, might as well trade derozan and lowry to,

start a proper rebuild around jonas,

this roster has to be gutted, to truly rebuild Raptors have to commit to a roster with two guys , ross and valancuinus and put a bunch of d league guys around them for the next couple of years

cant be drafting 8 or 9, 13 have to be in the 5 range

if this team wants to win a championship this is the way to do it

this is the time to do it with wiggins coming up,

I would still want someone like Gasol for Bargnani. Some people have argued a Bargnani for a young player and draft pick. That scenario would have been more tenable if we were sure to retain our pick this year. That would have given us a top pick, plus space to go after a 4. With limited protection on the pick, it wouldn't be wise to do the trade. A team that would entertain a trade for Bargnani would be the Suns. They don't really want to build through the draft and love being a mediocre team. They have lots of picks in the Nash trade. They would probably offer something like Kendall Marshall, Morris, and a 1st round pick (13th-14th) in this year’s draft for Bargnani.

While most teams are trying to figure out how to stop their first-round opponent, the Raptors are figuring out what they need to do this offseason to become a playoff team for the 2012-13 season.

One of the things they should consider is trading their leading scorer, Andrea Bargnani.

Bargnani doesn’t work well with the Raptors system, as he is a below-average defender and a brutal rebounder for his size. Dwane Casey needs someone who can help Jonas Valanciunas on the glass next year, while also helping to contain NBA bigs. While he is talented player, Bargnani doesn’t fit what Casey wants in his starting power forward.

Even if Ed Davis isn’t the scorer that Bargnani is, he is a better defender and a much better rebounder. If he continues to get better, he could become a solid starting power forward.

However, even if Davis isn’t ready to step in next season, the Raptors could sign a veteran big man via free agency or use their lottery pick on a power forward.

While they will miss Bargnani’s scoring, they have tons of cap space to sign a player or two to fill that void and Valanciunas should be a bigger threat to score from the center position than Aaron Gray.

Although Andrea still has three years and $32.25 million left on his current contract, that’s not a lot for a guy who can stretch the floor and can get you 20-plus ppg. Therefore, his contract shouldn’t be a big issue when negotiating a trade with another team, and the Raptors should be able to get a decent return for him.

The Raptors lacked a quality small forward, scoring off the bench and good play from veterans. If they could address two of those issues by trading Bargnani, they will be an improved team and will have a shot at making the playoffs next year.
Why the Toronto Raptors Should Trade Andrea Bargnani This Offseason | Bleacher Report

Surprised: Someone from the Bleacher Report suggested trading Bargnani before the start of the season, when everyone was fixated on his first 13 games of 2011.

Hope you are just trolling, because you should really know how to spell his last name by now!
While i agree that we need young talent from the draft, i don't think we need to trade DD and Lowry. I think Trading Bargs, Jose, LK for picks is the way to go

Bleacher Report is written by kids who wish they were reporters/real sports writers.

I use to have a friend who wrote for bleacher report and he would beg me to read his articles so he could get view counts.

I even signed on and became a writer, though I never actualy wrote an article.

I think you get what I'm trying to say though

Yeah that's why I said I was surprised. They normally write non-sense. It's funny someone from Bleacher out of all places, anticipated the need to trade him (when his value was higher), whereas trade Bargs articles (from major media outlets) have become somewhat superfluous after this season started as most people were fixated on his performance from the first 12 games of 2011.

I think that WAY too much to give up for a guy that hasn't proven much yet (IMO).

13pts/gm on 39% shooting isn't worth giving up all of that.... unless you feel that he can be a 20+/gm scorer next season.

What have ED and Ross proven

Yes he's struggling with his FG% this year but he's a really good rebounder, can legitimately play both SG and SF, is a solid passer and can handle the ball a little bit, is a solid defender too. He may or may not become a 20 ppg guy but he's a top 3 option on offense and a 2-way player.

Lowry/DD/George/Bargs/JonasV - that wouldn't be too bad.
