if we get the first pick, do you trade Barg ?

if we get the first pick, so we get A. Davis, do you trade barg to get some asset in return ?

or do you trade ED/Amir ?

perso :

i would trade barg in the draft night to get another lottery pick and a young SF talent (trade with portland would be nice)

Dario 03-27-2012 06:06 AM

Depends, Bargs has been playing rough lately, but if we do get the first pick, bes tthing we do is trade our first pick for an allstar PG or PF, well thats what I would do, but man AD is a beast....

Toby 03-27-2012 07:17 AM

Bargs is your best shooter, most the time anyway. He's a keeper, just need more big strong guys to do all the dirty work, so Bargs can focus on the rim.

Toby 03-27-2012 07:24 AM

Alhough you can do whatever you'd like. Your the fans. You have the power.

When the Blazers started stankin' I was willing to trade LaMarcus Aldridge for a handful of picks. If ya'll get real, flesh and blood players and a solid first round pick, I'd say shoot.

Admiral 03-27-2012 07:39 AM

I'd draft AD and then see what trade proposals i get for either AD or bargs, pull off a draft day trade probably
or i'd just trade the draft pick in advanced for a lower pick and the PG we need and then draft the SG/SF we need with our own pick

MrClutch 03-27-2012 08:09 AM

If I can get a good deal for ed Davis or Amir, then I keep the 1st round and draft A.Davis. If not, then I trade down to maybe 3 or 4th selection and draft MKG

jeffb 03-27-2012 09:07 AM

Trade Anthony Davis + Demar to the highest bidder. :haha:

INSIDER 03-27-2012 09:52 AM

if we get #1 pick, drafting Davis is a no brainer. the guy is going to be a star in this league. trading down or trading the pick would be idiotic.
i would wait to see how JV does, and then look to trade Bargs. see if we can grab a legit PG for him.

Deez 03-27-2012 10:18 AM

I think trying to acquire a 2nd lottery with some other redundant asset is the way to go in this suposedly deep draft.

LX 03-27-2012 10:21 AM

I think you trade any player that doesn't fit what your trying to build for a player or players you think can fit.

powerfulpanda 03-27-2012 10:37 AM

i was willing to trade bargnani regardless. this whole bargnani era has been a disaster and i just want to move on ASAP

Yes. If Davis is everything he is said to be, you cannot miss a chance to turn Bargnani into a very established and top player at a hurting position....so....EVERY position.

Its no different than JC. If you have a chance to improve, and can use a piece to totally grow your talent level you do it.

but you are basing this off a small chance that Toronto gets pick #1.

DanH 03-27-2012 10:46 AM

Yes. The team is overloaded at the PF spot, with 4 players capable of playing the position (Amir, JJ, Ed, Kleiza) who together make 14 million, outside of Bargnani. Three of those players are younger than Bargnani, with Kleiza being the same age. Bargnani is the asset on the team that would bring back the most in a trade, and the most likely to bring back a high draft pick or promising prospect.

If we don't win the first pick, the question becomes more interesting. Do you then move Bargnani to upgrade at the guard positions, and go forward with Amir and Ed at the 4? Do you keep Bargs, and move one of Amir or Ed as a good value piece for similar good value at a different position, and make a run at a big name free agent (such as Nash) at PG to make a run starting next year?

Keeping or moving Bargnani seems to come down to the time frame projected for this team's success. If you want to be competing in the playoffs in the next 2 years or so, you can't trade him. The only way we get good value back in a trade like that is in picks and young prospects. If you want to be competing more in the 5-years-from-now time frame, that will be at the end of Bargnani's peak years - so you move him now for a piece or pieces that will peak along with the rest of the roster.

Since we are not talking about this in a vacuum....and Colangelo would still be GM at the time of this lottery win, I think they are more likely to have a big mix of Davis, Bargnani, JV and a veteran. Thus Amir, Ed and Calderon would likely be the bait to improve non-big positions.

e.g. even for those who think we have no shot at Deron Williams, would you be surprised to see this?

JV, vet
Davis, Bargs
JJ, upgrade
Demar, upgrade
Nash, Bayless

Call me crazy, but I am looking forward to Bargs and JV playing together. Two Euros that understand each other.

Superjudge 03-27-2012 11:19 AM

How do you know they understand each other? Because they are from the same continent? Thats like saying a kid from Sudbury would play better with a kid from Compton because they are North Americans.

if they were playing in a european league and had previous experience playing in similar situations in their own continent, that might make perfect sense.

carp 03-27-2012 11:57 AM

It all depends if some team comes calling looking to overpay for a potential franchise player
