I'd want AI. Trade Calderon, don't amnesty. We should keep that amnesty for next year on a guy like amir. We can amnesty amir and make an offer for iggy next year as a ufa. Keeping that amnesty in our possession is like having a tpe. If we can't acquire a solid sf, we'll still make the playoffs and can better judge who fits and doesn't fit on our roster. We can also let Calderon walk and amnesty Amir freeing close to 17 million dollars. The last thing we want to do is panic. We made a solid move in acquiring Lowry without giving up any of our core pieces. Let's take our time and see what's out there. If the price is too high, preserve the space for next year.

i was thinking the same thing... with all thats going on in indy, granger could be available. george is their main man going forward, and granger is very costly.

George can't carry that team without Granger and especially if Hibbert is gone to Portland and West after the season when he's a free agent. Granger won't be moved.

Gay however, can be acquired. Even if Iguodola or Granger is a better fit,Gay is no slouch at SF. He's the one you target in my opinion.

We have Lowry, t Ross, bargnani, and Valancunas, Ed Davis under cap friendly contracts for next year. Get rid of kleiza, amnesty Amir, go after AI and make an offer for tyreke Evans in the off season. We will have enough room to add both of those players. We can send derozan in a sign and trade and preserve our mid level exception as well; allowing us to resign jj too.
Starting line-up:
Lowry
Evans/Ross
Igudola/jj
Bargnani/davis
Valancunas
Plus mid level somewhere.

I can confirm the Raptors/Sixers trade rumor. Source says it is legit. Calderon/Derozan/Ed Davis for Dre/Vuc.
This would be a very very nice trade for us. Vucevic could start until Val is ready, and even when Val is ready, Vucevic will be a very effective backup for us. He was impressive in his rookie year on both sides of the ball.

And of course Iguodala would be an awesome fit in TOR. He's the best perimeter defender in the NBA, a very good creator for his position, a now good 3 pt shooter, rebounder, he's just a very good all around player who again would fit this system beautifully.

Well your dreams may be answered...according to a post at Real GM based on reports Philly and Toronto are talking a deal for Iguodola

I hope this happens. AI is a great fit for us. We would give up Ed Davis but get vucevic who gave the sixers a solid 5 and 5 with a block in 15 minutes. He's under contract for another 3 years at like 1.5 - 3 million.

i really like the addition of vucevic in that deal. I thought the one remaining area of one more C might not be addressed coz of everything else we're doing, this could end our dealings. Vucevic had some real nice games for philly last season, i like his game. Gray as 3rd option is great.

lowry/bayless
fields/ross
Iggy/JJ
Bargs/amir
Vuc/Val

plus rest of bench. really like that team.

With Fields and Ross here I have no qualms about giving up DD... esp when he's going into a contract year. Ed is pretty much redundant here too IMO.

I agree. Would be an excellent trade for us.

Lowry, Fields, Iggy, Bargs, Val.... I like!

I totally agree. I think there have been a number of us including yourself that threw that same trade out there - except the Vucevic component. I don't know much about him but I like what you're saying about him.

I also agree 100% with your analogy of AI - he's someone that a number of us felt the team should go after from the start.

If this goes through I'm going to be extremely happy and hope there are a number of apologies for BC

Well once Ross was drafted and Fields signed, it became fairly clear DD's days were numbered. I like the idea of Lowry/Fields/AI/Bargs/Val as a line-up. Actually the inclusion of Fields and Vuc makes it even better than I thought possible. And FA hasn't even started yet...

This trade would be really good for the Raptors. Philly would be really dumb to make this trade. Calderon would be a bad fit for Philly (Bayless would be better). Haven't seen DeRozan play 3 full time, so I don't know how he and Turner can play together. Ed Davis is the only player that I think would excel there.

With Casey's system and a FULL season and training camp under our belts we could be a top 10 team (possibly even top 5) defensively with that lineup. Basically like Philly was last season except with a bit more scoring punch.

A lot of that will hinge on Bargs and Val though... and how good they are at rebounding, rotating and protecting the rim.

I should stay away more often. It's like the Raps are reading my mind with the moves they are making, and every time I come back, poof, good shit on the burner. Yesterday, embarrassing as it is, I spent easy 8 hours on here and twitter and it was all bad news.

Heh. "That's how she goes Bubs, way of the road"

Well remember that the inclusion of JC is for cap relief for the team. Ed will excel for sure. I think Lou will be back at 2 with Turner sliding to the 3. DD will most likely back-up Lou and Harkless backing up the 3.

I agree, it certainly will help the rebounding and rim protection with the perimeter defense of Lowry/Fields/AI. Keeping the other players out will certainly help those 2.
