Nobody in upper management has the patience for a full rebuild. If we're going to do this again, let's do it right this time. Please and thank-you.

Question. BC is President as well, if he were fired would he lose that position as well? And how much authority does the president have?

I could see this team doing a half assed move like Keeping BC as president and "promoting" Stefanski to full time GM. lol

From my understanding, outside of the Owner, the President has the most power. If he gets fired,it would be as President. If he was kept as GM,its more than likely that the new President would fire BC and bring in his own guy. Doesn't make sense to fire him as GM and then keep him as President because he'd still have the most influence on the overall vision.

Half the team has to go. The other half is going to need to be considered in any trade just to be able to clear out the crap half. I'm more interested in picks than just about any player currently here. Once the talent level rises, there has to be a legitimate coach brought in.

I can't believe how badly the Colangelo era turned out to be. I really can't. We could have done better with Charles Barkley. That might not be a bad idea in fact. I'm sick of GM's selling shit to the fans. Give me a GM that can sell to the players and is able to put others through a sniff test to measure some level of competence. No more used car salesmen that red to be surrounded by yes men. Please!

I saw this video recently, in which Barkley talks about building a team. Mentions that he would not tolerate shooting guards who can't shoot and PFs who average 6 rebounds a game. Also preaches building through the draft. I'm actually intrigued by the prospect of Barkley in the front office, relative to BC.

Oh and there needs to be solid vets brought in at the appropriate time, and not vets looking to take on bigger roles.

Let me augment your question. What was worse - saying your team might not look all that good on paper, or saying you think your team might be something special?

I'd be thrilled if this year we land Zeller and next year, somehow land Wiggins to add to a core of JV and Ross and you're in a real good position with legit upside on cheap contracts. Add a few shrewd pieces and away you go.
Welcome to the "proper tank" school of thought.

Babcock, by a mile. The dude couldn't draft at all and fucked up VC's departure royally.

To answer someone else's question - Grunwald was our best GM, IMHO, but that's not setting the bar all that high. And we haven't had a great coach once!

I think we're one of the most underachieving team history wise, are we not?

Well, this is still a realtively young franchise, but the absence of a clear long-term plan and/or commitment to its execution is quite appalling. Even though we are not really a small-market team, in this league it would behoove us to behave as if we were, and so look up to the Spurs, the Jazz, and lately OKC and Memphis to see what should be done and how it should be done.
