Please feel free to hold me to this... I've been consistent on both and I'm always willing to concede when wrong. Hope I'm very wrong if we're stuck with Fields.

Of course.

Because only an intelligent and knowledgeable poster and basketball fan will bitch and complain about a player before even letting them play a game on a new team.

Don't know who you think you're kidding buddy. Either you think you know more than you do or you just like to go on message boards and troll away.

if bc couldnt get nash to sign in toronto no gm could, they have history together and won alot of games if nash signs in toronto a big reason will be bryan colangelo i actually respect how hard bc is going after nash

I hate when BC has money to spend. Let see, the free agents signings of Hedo and Kapono. Don't give this man money to spend.

Hollinger and Simmons? The guy who makes judgements entirely on PER, one of the most flawed statistics ever invented (by him, I might add), and a guy who doesn't even follow the game all that closely, except to make a snarky column once in a while?

Nice try... Hardly what I'd call experts.

Again... you won't find a bigger critic of BC than me.... but those signings and THIS one are completely different.

Torap, I agree with alot of your post, just don't like this signing. Lets face it, when BC wants a guy (JO and Hedo), he'll overspend, trade a good draft pick (Hibbert), and overpay for a role player (Fields). Maybe having a good point guard would elevate his game like Dudley and Bell, but dude shot below 30% behind the arc last year.

I agree, getting Fields isn't a bad move, he can move to the backup sf... I see James Johnson or Kleiza being moved soon or both.... I doubt he was signed to be the back up sg, :S that's Ross' place.

Nash/Bayless
Demar/Ross
Kirilenko/Fields/Johnson or Kleiza or weems..?
etc.. Yea I'm lazy...

You have that backwards, Fields is a sg and Ross has the ability to play SF better - his shot is better than both DD and Fields.

Come on man, don't BS. Hibbert wasn't traded away, he was picked by Toronto, FOR the pacers as part of a trade to get JO. You are making an argument on an assumption that Hibbert was the pick Toronto actually wanted.

Don't be that guy.

And over 80+ games he shot 40% from the arc (and almost 50% from the field) the year before.... so why are we discarding that entire year and judging him solely on last season?

The reason that this signing doesn't piss me off as much as those other ones did is because...

a) Fields is young (going into his 3rd season)

b) he's a smart, unselfish player who can play some D.

c) his contract is only for 3 years and will be a nice trade chip during his final year with us (if we decide to deal him).

I really don't get it.... people cry when we "overpay" for a guy like this yet people show little interest in bringing back a guy like Weems who was cheap.... and others want to blow our entire wad on guys like Iggy and Gay.

Again... I don't get it.

when i heard Fields was signed to an offer sheet, i automatically knew ToRap was going to be happy... and you know what? that makes me happy. i love when ToRap favors a guy, it makes for the best arguements.
I'm a fan of fields, so it'll be nice to back up ToRap for a change.

I think Colangelo is quite clever: he is using this as an opportunity to increase the fan-base and appeal of the team without having to build a team that can win championships. Maybe they'll be able to get a quality 3 this summer and my opinion will change, but I don't see the long-term direction that I had hoped (especially with such a temporary solution at the PG spot). Maybe they think Nash can work miracles and get through to Bayless?
