Default IBEKWE could be the hidden gem for Raps!

Ekene Ibekwe, who just came off of a stellar season in Turkey, could be the hidden gem the Raptors are looking for this summer. Like DeRozan, Ibekwe is a freak athlete from So Cal who NOW has what he didn't have in the ACC at Maryland. He NOW has an offensive game to go with his All-ACC first team defensive prowess. This dude tore up Turkey (18/19 ppg, 8 rpg, 2 blocks per game) this year and did well in France/Israel his first year out of Terp land. He also made the all-star game in Turkey, with a high game of 31 and 15 boards. Ibekwe was a Parade AA in high school and just took some time to get to the potential he has always had............dude has a 7.5' wingspan and also plays for the Nigerian National Team, though he grew up in L.A./Carson, which is right next to Compton where DeRozan is from. He plays the 4, but has the foot quickness to guard some 3's. Ibekwe and Pops are both great back-ups for Bargnani, Bosh, etc, especially now that Sheed is with Boston. Ibekwe gives us the length we will need to deal with Garnett, Wallace, etc, if Bosh gets in foul trouble. Humphries is a good player but cannot match up with a Sheed or Garnett, either length-wise or quickness-wise. Hopefully they'll give him a lot of run in Vegas to show what he can do......he was with Phoenix last summer and when he played did well.....but didn't play until the last few games.

We need wings and guards..not more bigs, or bigs playing out of position.

End of story

Intriguing, but the 4 spot is already somewhat primed as it is. Maybe he can successfully convert to the 3 though.

Ekene Brian Ibekwe (born 19 July 1985 in Los Angeles, California) is a basketball Power forward from the United States of Nigerian ancestry. Ibekwe, who also played for the Carson High School's Boys Basketball team, graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park and was a member of the Nigeria national basketball team at the 2006 FIBA World Championships where Ibekwe was one of the team leaders in points (4th) and rebounds (1st). During the 2006-2007 season at Maryland, Ibekwe averaged over 10 points and nearly 8 rebounds per game in over 25 minutes of action per game. He was 4th on Maryland in scoring average and first in rebounds; His rebounding average was good enough for 4th in the Atlantic Coast Conference. For his career, he accrued 1,109 points, 781 rebounds, and 230 blocked shots, becoming the fourth player in school history (and the first since Lonny Baxter) to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 200 blocked shots.
He's a 6'9 quick forward with a wingspan that rivals Nathan Jawai's.
He would be perfect on defense, giving star forwards in the league problems

I like his stats but if he can display the same type of numbers in the summer league I'd want him. I also only want him for the minimum
