I wish we had the onions here in Toronto, and the dedication....organization....crookedness, it would take to get in a substantially higher number of votes in for Raptors players.

It would say, "Stand up and take note of some of the most obnoxious and ballsy fans in the league. And don't belittle and dismiss our players and franchise anymore."

Now It's not as easy to do in the NBA as it was in the NHL with Canadiens fans voting in all of their players, but wouldn't that be a coup?

Do we even know what voting numbers are yet? I thought the ballots were just released recently...

anyways, maybe i'm alone, but i put VERY LITTLE stock into all star voting. It's so unimportant and in so many cases misses the boat with who deserves to make the team. It's a brand name popularity contest and that's it.

Really, i hate the fan voting system in general. I'd just rather the league did away with it (but of course that won't happen).

The voting process is fucked up and everyone is going to abuse it. For the most part its just a popularity contest anyway.

So hell ya, I'm voting for all Raptors players every chance I get

The point of the all star game is for the fans to see their favourite players on the court together. So if the fans vote Iverson in, that means they want to see him play not because he's necessarily one of the best shooting guards in the league. So yes, that's exactly what the all star game is, a popularity contest.

They should let us vote in who competes in the slam dunk contest.

I know I'm getting my votes in. I know there are a lot of Bosh haters here but he deserves to play and to start from how he's bee playing so far. And the fact that other Raptors are getting votes from me is just gravy.

By the way, who would you all add from the Raptors for the write in vote at the bottom of the list at NBA.com? Belli? DD? Amir?

You're compaing oranges and apples here. In the NHL, not a great number of people outside of Canada gives a damn about hockey. And especially with the game being in Montreal and the 100th anniversary of the team, people voted continously for the Hab players. They wanted to see that story unfold. You wouldn't find that in the NBA. If the NBA AS game was in Boston, you wouldn't see Ray Allen being voted in in favour of Lebron of Wade. Or Kendrick Perkins in favour of Dwight Howard. The NBA is more of a global game and generates more interest worldwide.

I'm wit you 100% on this one Ammo. Raps fans need show love for their players and vote them in to the All Star. The all star game should be about the best players in the league playing but it isn't. As some have already said it is basically a popularity contest. So why not vote in Raps players?! It would be an injustice imo if Bosh did not start at the all star. He is the best PF in the league regardless of what haters have to say!

VOTE CB4 TO THE ALL STAR GAME!

I'm just not into it. I'd rather have the players rest over play in an all-star game.
I just don't understand the point.
To prove yourself? To prove you're an "allstar" over being a "star"?
Is that kind of disjointed game entertaining for some people?

I don't mean to offend - I just don't know.

I vote all the Raps on the ballot and as I write in I put DD.

No, it's not just about the game itself....

1. You tend to have an affinity for your own city's players so you want to see them participating in that whole weekend and event wearing your team's uniform and being announced.

2. It sends a bad message to players and fans everywhere if some continue to see this city as some forgotten Siberia where players come to get ignored and miss out. You put up stats but you're someone else's bitch because you live in Canada?

3. People don't see it as nothing when a player is an all star. They mention it whenever they get the chance. I don't even think Magloire was all star worthy, but getting there helped his career. If players think they are going to get left out, no wonder some don't want to come here.

4. Being an all star helps your pay cheque.

5. Somehow, great players seem to learn from each other.

6. Maybe if a certain center were an all star, it would help his confidence and he would stop backing down and standing around on the perimeter so much.

Also, I don't see all of these all stars falling off because they go to that game. If anything, they all seem to turn it up after the break.
