I don't want him! Why people are intrigued by him in a Raptors uniform puzzles me. I think it is some old Vince Carter attachment or something. Athletic guy who drives to the rim... ooohh.

He is a loser like Vince Carter
He is a loser like Tracy McGrady
Same bull$hit mold.

Athletic guy who can score but can't play a full season and hasn't won anything. I don't think Magette is a bee-otch like VC & T-Mac but can't say that he isn't either. All i know is that he plays alongside good players, a better lineup then the Raptors and he didn't do anything.

What is he going to do here?

I think that there are more Magette Stan's on this forum then on the Clippers forum.

People want Maggette because:

1. He is an athletic wing player, something we didn't have since Vince left.
2. He is a slasher, a driver and he gets to the basket to the tune of almost 10 FT attempts per game.

Other people don't want Maggette because:

1. Injury concerns.
2. He is not the smartest tool in the shed.

Clear now?

what i dont get is how some people are overvaluating TJ.
seriously, we were ready to trade this guy for a bag of oranges about 4 months ago... but now, we want some superstar in return... gimme a break.

if the trade happens to be; Ford and a filler (graham or another loser) for Maggette, then i would do that in a second.
i dont understand why you wouldnt.
TJ is gone this summer, if we can get a 20/6 wing-guy for him, then why the hell wouldnt we?

dont overvaluate TJ please.
trading him for Maggs would be a blessing IMO.
sure he's not the smartest player and he's not the type of guy we build our team around, but he's a gamer and a damn good second option for us. who the heck do you guys think we'll get for TJ anyway?

From what I've read in both Maggette related threads, it seems like all of us don't like Corey. So, who in fact wants him here then if we all hate the idea?

Obviously, I am not a part of "we all". Just as obviously, Insider isn't either.

If the trade is, essentially, Ford for Maggette - I am game.

In the end, TJ will net us someone who doesn't get much PT on their original team, or who is an oft-injured player with a huge contract.
I wouldn't hold my breath on Maggette simply because Donald Sterling is cheap and he'd rather Maggette's contract run out and let him walk.
When healthy, Ford can be a very good point guard, a lot of GM's know this. BC isn't dumb - he knows this too. The reason why everyone wanted Ford banished is because he took a lot of shots. Why did he take a lot of shots? Because there's no secondary scorer on the team, so he felt the need to become not only the facilitator, but a scorer as well, and that didn't sit well with a lot of players and fans - and I'm sure Smitch gave him the green light to shoot.
Most GMs look for potential, and Ford has a shitload of it.

i think everyone here undervalues TJ because of the hard-on everyone has for Calderon. Either way, Ford is still easily a top 15 point guard in the league, he has value.

i think magette is a good player, but i want rebounding and toughness before i want a second scorer. ford is our leverage.

sterling isn't cheap. he just doesn't hand out stupid contract to players who don't deserve prime-time dollars.

..And as a GM, you HAVE to overvalue your player, or else you get fleeced in a deal.

Maggette for Ford from a Toronto standpoint doesn't sound bad, but will Maggette sign long term here? That's a huge question. Same goes for a guy like Artest.

Personally, I think we need a wing scorer capable of creating his own offence almost as badly as we need an improvement in rebounding and defence - but that's me.

Until Bargnani starts rebounding better or until BC gives up on him, there isn't a lot you can do up front to improve in that area. Maggette averaged over 5 rebounds per game over his career so far, which is not bad at all from the wing. My only real problem with him is his health.

i totally agree with Mike on this...
other than his health concerns, Maggette would be a wonderful addition here.

over his last few seasons he's averaging just under 6 rebs a game to go along with 20 ppg.
if we could get that type of production from our sg/sf i'd be on cloud 9.

imagine him a lineup of
caldy
maggs
moon
bosh
rasho/bargs

that would be pretty damn effective.

toughness and rebounding is a huge hole for us, but the reality is, with what we have as trade bait, theres no way in hell we get a guy who will help us out in the rebs/toughness department who will fill the stat sheet for 35+ minutes.
getting a really good center is almost impossible IMO.
you want toughness and rebounding? why not give Hoffa a call? exactly.... cause he sucks! theres no way we get a good center who will help us win more games.
but a second option guy like maggs will.

He's a swingman, so he can play either the 2 or 3. At 6'6", he's probably better suited to play the 2.

Yeah I just checked he is 6.6. So he is more of a SG/SF. Not a pure SF.

Maggette can play either wing position. I'd try to start him at SF with Parker @ SG, with Moon, Kapono and Delfino rounding up the 2-3 rotation.

i'd rather him at the 2.
that way moon would be the garbage /D guy who doesnt need to do anything on offense other than crash the glass and do the blue-collar type work.
imagine Maggs @ SG and AP off the bench.
he's the AP we wish we had... strong, great rebounder (for his size and position), takes it to the rack... is CONFIDENT!
and if it were possible to get him for TJ. shit, i dont know how you guys say no to that.
