Default Hypothetical trade idea thread

Not saying any of this will near happen... but you know... for fun in between game days. Here was one I just came off

Webster + Rodriguez + Pryzbilla for Bargnani + Moon + Kapono

I'd jump on that. Rodriguez not to mention Roko can play the two to make up for some of the lack of depth.

Caldy/Rodriguez/Roko
Parker/Webster/Rodriguez/Roko
Webster/Adams/Graham
Bosh/JO/Hump
JO/Pryzbilla

MUCH more complete team than what we have now. Would Portland do this though? Webster and Rodriguez project as 3rd stringers for them this year with their depth, Pryz is a bit more giveable considering Oden's presence. Bargnani is one more piece of young talent and obviously Moon and Kaps are solid role players.

Again though, hypothetical... Portland's not making any trades at this point and we're stubborn about Bargs.

Yeah, I don't see Portland acquiring Bargs to play behind Aldridge and Oden.

I know some people are saying otherwise, but I think BC is finished tinkering with the roster this season (unless there are some injuries). Our big man rotation is pretty much perfect. We can't get any better at SG/SF unless we trade a big (unlikely). Maybe we sign a veteran back up PG if Solomon really tanks, but I've been looking at his preseason numbers, and except for the turnovers, I think he could be a solid NBA combo guard by the All Star break.

But, since we're talking hypothetical...

Graham has his long awaited breakout season and we trade Kapono for a defensive specialist at SG.

Sadly, that's the best I could come up with. No one on our roster seems tradeable. We have no spare parts.

A team with a lot of talent like Portland has 7 players going into free agency this summer and would like to get something out of those players. Plus if Darius Miles, with Boston this preseason plays in 10 games this season, his $9 million salary goes right back on the Blazers' books.

Parker for Outlaw and throw in a draft pick for good measure
Outlaw can play both SF and SG and plays with intensity on both sides of the ball

Moon and Graham for Outlaw

Where do I sign for either of those trades?

I've always liked Outlaw and with all the depth the Blazers have this season I see him getting lost somewhere in the mix their.

Kapono would be better on Portland than AP

AP would be better for us too.

I could see Kapono being shopped to a few teams in the West. Look at the difference a guy like Kyle Korver made for Utah last season. However, I do believe that a better player in Korver only fetched a second round pick, so hopefully we receive something a little more substantial.

Yuck.. I can't see that happening (The Portland deals..) I'm sure some other team will overpay for their guys.

Right now, this team doesn't have many trade assets aside from Bosh, Calderon and Bargs (and Bargs is iffy)..the change really will come in a couple of years from now.

Alright what I think is going to happen...
Bargnani develops, we extend his contract for a fair price
Extend Bosh's contract in 09
JO contract off the books in 2010
raptors will be appealing with 2 superstar big man and above average PG
Wade signs with us for 20 a year

barg's extension will eat-up a lot of o'neals expired. if anything, i could see our available space being used like it was BC's first season having us pick-up a couple of MLE type players.

no we can extend it after this season... it cant be double digits then.
Give Bosh a fair extension
dont use next years MLE
go big in 2010
I think Colangelo's going to play this out perfectly.
As for the "Say NO to J.O"
As a player I truly believe he won't make to much of a difference. I personally think his careers done and hes just going to stunt our 1st round picks development. All the J.O hype doesn't really make sense to me, where still pretenders, just like Orlando last year but maybe even a bit worse.
I like his contract and thats about it!

Scenario:

Portland makes the playoffs as a six seed and needs a pure shooter to feed off Aldridge and Oden, both putting up 20 and 10 nightly at this point.

Solution:

Jason Kapono for Martell Webster and Ike Diogu.

Ok, not the most exciting trade. But it works.

Outlaw is better that Webster and Webster is due for a big contract next year because he was a lottery pick and there is a clause in the contract which gets him more money.

Webster is also an outside shooter like Kapono, but he is a better defender.

The Blazers are not going to want Kapono's contract, plus they have Roy, Fernandez and Batum signed. There also going to offer Aldridge and Oden an extension along with all the other young talent they have.

Chris Paul is even better. Why not trade for him?

This is exactly why this trade makes more sense than the Outlaw trade. Because it's more realistic. The Blazers aren't trading Outlaw.

But, you look at their depth chart and you can see that if Rudy Fernandez starts playing well, someone has to lose minutes, probably Webster rather than Roy, and he's in a contract year, so he would want out in that situation (speculating).

Plus, I'm thinking the Raptors need to dump Kapono's contract. For $6 million a season they can get better than 15 minutes a game and no defense.

I don't know why anyone would want to trade Moon. The guy makes $700K a season. How could you possibly find someone better for $700K? You can't!

http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/76233

Source: Blazer willing to move young talent

An NBA source said the Trail Blazers seem interested in moving some of their deep young talent for veterans, to add experience and to spare them from having to pay big contracts down the road.

What veterans do the Raps have? O'Neal, Parker, Graham?

Hello Webster, Goodbye Parker?

I'd love to have Webster, but you also need glue guys. AP is our glue guy. He holds this team together. Also, his experience in playoffs - whether its NBA or European, is invaluable. You need guys like that.

Webster is inconsistent and overrated IMO. He's still young though so give him that. I do think Sergio Rodriguez is a great talent, though right now he can't shoot. I'd rather make a play to get Rudy Fernandez or Jarryd Bayless or (dream scenario but not happening) Nicolas Batum.
