How untouchable is JV, really?

Just to get a feel for what RF thinks about Jonas and the value you place on him. Do you think he is untouchable? & if so to what extent?

I'd say he can be had for another promising centre with the same or more potential, or a top6-7 pick in this draft

Just thinking about how he seems to disappear the longer the game goes on, as I'm watching the Spurs replay right now.

No one should be untouchable, but I wouldn't trade him unless I'm absolutely blown away by the offer. 21 year old skilled 7 footers with good feet don't grow on trees. In a few years, the stupid Raptors fans will look back and wonder how they ever wanted to want to trade JV because of his slow start in his 2nd season, mostly due to the fact that he has an incompetent coach.

Chiggmo 12-10-2013 10:14 PM

No, he's done nothing to deserve the right.

While I agree on the coach part, this guy needs a lot of work down the stretch. I can actually see why he gets benched later on the game. He is very indecisive with his decisions later on the game and tends to look lost for the most part.

With that being said I'll give him another season though.

I'm not impressed at all with him at this point, if anything he's regressed and he fades in and out of games often looking gassed. Is he somehow out of shape?

Imagine Colangelo's reaction if we traded Valanciunas? :mu:

I didn't watch todays game but I heard he was sick last night and thats why he was out of stamina today.

He probably needs a better personal practice coach to be honest....

Kirby 12-10-2013 10:23 PM

He's on a rookie scale contract, is only 21, and hasn't had a real opportunity quite yet. No way is he getting traded unless you're stupid or getting offered a top 5 pick in this draft.

He's been like that all season

Meanwhile, Drummond continues to beast in Detroit.

Everything about the Raptors just makes you want to fucking cry.

Especially when people keep bringing shit up that can't be changed. Drummond is in Detroit, get over it.

I love JV, the guy works hard out there and plus he is kind of raw still, I'm excited to see his game develop more

Carlos Danger 12-10-2013 10:40 PM

I'd wait it out. Hopefully DC is fired after this year and a coach is brought in who can give JV a boost.

I'd lean towards keeping him and getting a big man coach. But i wouldn't say no if the right deal comes along...high pick would have to be included.

That's not ignorance, it's knowing when to let shit you can't change go.

MBailey85 12-10-2013 10:49 PM

He shouldn't be untouchable BUT we're not seeing what he can really do because Duane Casey is not the coach who's gonna help him develop into the best player he can be. Assistants and such will help but ultimately the Head Coach could be the determining factor for talent like Valanciunas.

Casey isn't good with young players(as seen with Acy,JV and Ross),which is the number one reason why he should not be back next season if Ujiri and company wants to rebuild.

Ideally if JV could be like a Gasol that would be excellent, even if he turns out to be a Noah that's good. I'm rooting for him, they just need to continue to feed him until he becomes comfortable being a focal point on offense,he's already intense so his defense will get better naturally.

We should've drafted Dwyane Wade. :cookie::cookie::cookie:
