I think it was right call to give it to Lowry, but there should have been something else there than give it to Lowry and he will go one on five. Nets knew exactly that once Lowry gets the ball, they can all close on him as there is no plan to pass the ball to anyone.

Lowry made a decent effort there. Just got into too little space and had to pick up the ball from low to get the shot of giving Pierce a change to block (although he clearly got the elbow too).

An improvment to give it to Lowry. Still no real play there.

Get rid of Casey.

I thought he would pass it for someone to take an easy shot, and maybe he meant to but there was very little room for error on that play and the clock was against us.

Brooklyn played it well. And got some help from the refs. But the team does clearly need a bigger and better threat on last plays. Hopefully that will be Ross, or even Valančiūnas. Those guys are not there yet. That is not Casey's fault. If anything he got their development accelerated.

we have almost always been horrid at final plays, but we made some late buckets this year, and overall raps were sooooo much better in 4ths than i've seen

think we are on the way up as far as closing games

If you think that was the play they drew up you don't know basketball, it was a variation, what they called was impossible to happen due to a triple team or whatever adaptation the nets made. You think the play was a Lowry drive through a triple team and then lay up after a fumble?

the play was obvious.

lowry got triple teamed.

he should of passed it to the open man.

it was a bad play call.

I agree, but given he had 3 guys on em, he shoulda just tossed it out to someone, gaurenteed wide open shot.

Surrounded by three players, how tough of a pass would that be.....and to who?

This guy does a great job of breaking down the NBA. Really glad someone posted one of his videos a while back so I could check him out. I didn't even notice that we were originally setting up to have Vazquez inbound from the other side of the court. That explains a lot about Ross's positioning, which I found odd when watching in real time. I thought maybe he had a mental lapse or something, and that's why he was floating around out there, allowing Anderson to help the triple team.

The play wasn't even drawn up properly! WOW. Just fucking WOW. How does the coaching staff fuck that up?

Watch the video Ball Don't Lie posted. It explains a lot about why Lowry and the others had such poor spacing, which made it difficult for Lowry to find someone, because Alan Anderson was able to help triple team him. The whole play got fucked up, because it's not what they had initially drawn up. They were adjusting in real time.

If we had been lucky, Patterson would have been able to pick up the loose ball when Lowry split the two defenders in the paint. Patterson would have had a better chance of getting a turn around hook over Pierce.

We had another TO did we not? Once we realized we couldn't run the play from that side we should have burned the timeout imo. It would also give us an opportunity to see how they planning on defending us.

A good coach has to supersede and decide what's best for the team in the last seconds a game, if he has to rely on the coaching staff for something that has practiced a millions over, he shouldn't be the the coach.

not sure what are you guys talking about, we clearly switched plays - they probably had two plays prepared, one called for lowry to inbound and the other for vasquez.

also, watching in slow motion, it looks to me that the intention was for patterson to get the ball there, or else there's no point for him sticking in the middle. He was wide open, but lowry didn't have a good angle to send the pass. If he did, you have PP one on one with Pierce under the basket, that's a pretty good scoring opportunity.

even as it developed, we got a great shot that was blocked - it's not like we ended up with a desperation 3 from mid court. With 6 seconds on the clock against a super aggressive defense who didn't even bother to guard our decoy shooters, I doubt there was a better shot to be had.

ross was fairly open, but way back and PP was wide open, but there was no passing angle. They defended well - tough to break a veteran defense with KG in the middle.

btw, what I find poetic is this:

Quote:
Over the course of 11 meetings with Brooklyn, including four regular-season games, both teams had scored exactly 1,070 points
11 games, perfect tie on points scored, and the 7 game series ends like it did ...

No, I don't think we had a timeout left. Because I remember the announcers commenting that the ref was telling Vasquez that he's all out. I wondered to myself why Vasquez would even ask that before he has the ball handed to him by the ref, but I chalked it up to him being cautious and wanting to know just in case he couldn't get the ball in.

Almost certain we were out of TOs.
