Default How much longer do you give BC?

bjjs brought up some valid points in another thread so I thought that I'd poll our group here and see what people thought.....

Even though it got off the beaten path, isn't this sort of what the other thread was about?

I went with 3 yrs btw..... although I ALMOST said "gone after current contract".

I think what he does this summer will determine how I really feel.

The funny thing is, we usually love most of his summer moves. After last summer everyone here was thrilled with his moves and bowing at his feet. Now look at this place.

Hmm. I'm not sure why there's a double standard with Bosh and BC. Everyone keeps saying Bosh hasn't won us anything, he can put up big numbers if he wants, but no wins = boot him. Yet, what has BC done besides create a team that's usually in the middle of everything (on the brink of the playoffs/lottery)? If BC hasn't made us "win" anything, why the double standard?

Having said that, I'd rather have BC stay than go, cause honestly, who would replace him? No point in discarding shit if you're going to replace it with different shit.

Well, for me I'll clarify then.....

If he manages to keep Bosh while getting rid of one of Hedo/Jose then I'll consider it a good start.

If he LOSES Bosh without getting much back in return and we still have to watch Hedo/Bargs/Jose next season I'll want his head on a pike.... and I'll likely stab my eyes out.

Not only that, most loved the summer before as well. It hasn't panned out, but he can't be blamed for the teams under performance. He's assembled good talent while here, imo the main place where he's fucked up is in not putting the right coach in place, because this team has talent, and quite a bit of it.

It's not always about just "getting talent".... it's about getting the RIGHT type of talent that can compliment what you already have in place.

That's where BC missed the boat.

The thing is, in Phoenix BC did a number of makeovers before finding the right "fit" or personnel or whatever you want to call it. He went through 3 different high profile point guards, had a few coaching changes, and swung and missed in a few trades. Some people were pissed with management's decisions in phoenix at one stage. You could probably say that about any franchise and some point, aside from the Lakers, Spurs and a couple of others.

Eventually, though, BC built a 60+ win team. On top of that, he did a solid job of dealing with some serious adversity during the 2005-2006 season. Joe Johnson demanded a shit load of cash and Amar'e went down with a season ending injury. Colangelo managed to bring in Boris Diaw and Raja Bell. That team made it to the conference finals.

Seriously, when people say he hasn't "won anything", do you not count making it to the conference finals? So many GMs never make it that far. So few ever get to the finals. You have to say that over 90% of GMs have never won anything if you don't count the conference finals as an accomplishment. And had Amar'e been healthy, that 2005-2006 team might have made the finals. After all, that 2005-2006 Suns team took Dallas to 6 games without Amar'e.

Anyways, I said extend him for 5 years. I'm including next year, so I'm saying offer him a 4 year extension. Of course, my opinion would change if he doesn't make any changes this summer and he got nothing for Bosh. I doubt that will happen. He'll do something. The last time BC did a sign and trade invloving an All-Star, he got a starter, plus 2 1st rounders in return.

talent - defence = what we have now.

he needs to focus and bit less on "talent" and a bit more on building a team that can defend AND score.

let's not get caught up in scapegoating on JT so much that we don't address the team's real problems.

what does MLSE do when BC is gone if they decide to part ways with him

probably hire a rookie G.M or a cheap G.M to save money, thats pretty much what they did the whole entire time they owned them

BC built a Suns team that was a Amare/Diaw suspension/nash bleeding nose away from winning the championship in the tough western conference

two playoff appearances with a guy named Bosh who thinks he is a franchise player who can't get it done in the clutch, should have realized it when we lost to the nets in 6 games when we should have easily beat them

plus BC is capable of rebuilding on the fly, another good reason he knows everyone in the league, he can make deals sign players do the little things, I bet even in the summer Bosh will think about returning because BC is so good at geting guys to sign

if we do decide to let him walk or fire him, I would wnat the raps to hire a draft guy and a stats guy like Presti in OKC

by the way if you look at players overall, majority of the players are young some extremely young, some of these guys deserve to see it out , even Bargs still has 4 years to get to his prime, even belli who is warming up the bench is young, so things don't look that bad

before BC came we had a terrible roster of older veterens and d leaguers with no trade pieces, at least we have assets to work with
