How Frustrated Are You As A Raptors Fan?

No poll involved, (sorry Benzo) but just curious to know how frustrated you guys are right now? My frustrations are very reminiscent of the Babcock days. I guess you could include O'Neill tenure seeing how he fell under Babs too. Over these last couple seasons I don't think I've been as frustrated as I am right now and I'm not 100% sure why. Maybe my expectations were and still are too high, but on the flipside I'm also not ignorant to the fact to realize that this team is not as deep and as strong as they may seem on paper. :confused2:

Who knows, but all I know is that its frustrating to watch Raptors ball again and I want the fun back again. :frustrated:

What about you guys?

Claudius 04-07-2008 04:57 PM

I've stopped wearing my Raptor gear and honestly stopped watching the last few games and just ignore any highlights or articles in the newspaper. It's been nice but I know what's waiting for me when I come back.

Acie 04-07-2008 05:57 PM

Meh...as frustrating as it's been as long as they've still got games to play I'm hopeful they'll wake up and smell the turd they've been laying the last month and a half and maybe upset someone in the first round.

It's highly unlikely, but you never know...

I am over my 'I am pissed fan' phase... I am now indifferent... don't really care and have no faith in this group of guys.

I missed last 4 games (due to my vacation) and now I am happy I did it since my blood would certainly boiled if I watched.

Join the Lakers bandwagon y'all!
I've been the driver for two years, and there is not better time to hop on than now, while all their young players are actually getting better, and their bench is actually good. Kinda like how this Raptors team was SUPPOSED to be like.

jump, I was a Laker's fan when Magic, Worthy, Michael Cooper, Kareem and Byron Scott were the shit. There's no going back now. ;)

Whatever floats your boat.
You are missing out though ;)

Ditto. The only reason I'm watching some games is, ironically, my girlfriend, who likes watching Raptor games with me. I kind of don't really want to watch them at this point, it's a painful experience.

No... just no.

As always I'll cheer for the Raptors and Steve Nash's team in the post season, and then see where the chips fall. I enjoy watching the Lakers, Hornets, Mavs, etc. and cheering against the Spurs and Pistons, as always.

Superjudge 04-07-2008 08:14 PM

I like both the Spurs and the Pistons

they both play the game properly.

go figure, they are also both championship teams

Ball Don't Lie 04-07-2008 08:24 PM

The last 2 months I've ended up watching the big nationally televised games during the week in the same timeslot as the Raptors over the Raptors games, something I wouldnt have done last year for sure or the other years because I didnt have league pass. If we played like we wanted to win I wouldnt even think about watching the big game and switching to the Raps game during their commercials, but our team has regressed at the worst time.

Watching Boston, or any of the top teams matchup>>>>>watching the Raptors right now.

Now that all being said, are we considered fairweather fans? Not supporting our team through thick and thin .... the good times and the bad? :confused2:

Claudius 04-07-2008 08:57 PM

I've BEEN there for the bad times. I was there still cheering for the hope of the playoffs when we had Jalen Rose, Mike James, when we started 2-15 or whatever god awful number. Hell, I think all of us here were there for those moments, hoping.

The difference? Never have I seen so much talent, good talent at that, not give a shit about their preformance. Considering the other teams, e.g. the 2005 Raptors, they gave a shit game in and game out. This squad I can hardly say the same. So, does that make me a fairweather fan? Maybe from the idiot fans that are cheering them now, yes. But my question to those people is, were you there when this team was built? Likely not since the Raps are now the flavour of the month, or were so.

I just need a break. But come playoff time, I'll be cheering, but I really want some changes this offseason otherwise, I'll go on strike.

raptor123 04-07-2008 09:16 PM

I have not given up on our team this year. I don't usually agree what Mitch has to say but I tend to agree they do have the a ticket to the play offs. Once there anything can happen. We will be the underdogs and no one will expect much from us. If somehow we get it going in the first round no matter who we play we could surprise some team. Leave the the summer moves to the summer, there is still alot of basketball left to be played.

ClingRap 04-07-2008 09:23 PM

I cant stand their style of play and their walk it up style of offense. they have jump shooters yet they lack the offensive schema to generate open looks, and if they do its the guys the opposing teams can live with taking 20 footers. Teams have taken away our greatest weapon, the three point shot.
That said, I'll still watch this team, despite how aweful they are right now. I cant seem to stop, so maybe thats 13 years of watching every fucking game talking. Im sick of the losing.
What frustrates me the most is that we're light years away from competing in the east. What gives me a bit of hope is that despite the aweful shit, as quickly as they lost their swagger they could potentially get it back. Doubtful, but possible.

Major 04-07-2008 09:27 PM

You know its, funny I don't think we've won a game since I joined this thing :haha:

Uh-oh, shouldn't have said that....:tombstone:

Superjudge 04-07-2008 09:28 PM

It's just sports, I have no cares, I'd prefer if they were better.

I just don't like guys who give up, or who play with no emotion. They might be great guys to eat dinner with, but I want a team that i'd go to war with.

Them Dinosaurs ain't war worthy!

jumplvlan23 04-07-2008 09:36 PM

Fairweather fans no. Because I'm sure a lot of us were there during the bad old days.
The people you quoted Dr. J, (Thriller, bballwatcher, I think Ivan) were all posting on the EBS board with you and I during those bad years. And I'm sure the rest like Claudius have been around to see those days.

It's just more emotion than anything that is talking right now. Of course none of us are going to abandon our team. But how can you possibly watch Raps ball right now when there seems to be a BIG MATCHUP every night now (considering how tight the WC is). I'm guilty of watching many of those games now rather than the Raptors games versus low-quality teams, whom they appear to lose to.

Fairweather fans only watch like once a month then talk about the team like they know something. Most of us have watched this team the past 5-6 years, nearly every game, THATS through thick and thin where we were losing the past like 4 yrs before last year and still watched even though we sucked and knew we sucked. I'm still watching the games and make a point to watch the games, but like I said, theyre hard to watch right now and if a great game is on its hard not to switch the channel and make the Raptors game the one that I watch on commercials. That only lasted the past couple weeks though, I've only done it like 3 times so whatever. Now til our season is over I'm locked in.

I definately dont look at it this way, specially come playoff time. Life and death every play baby.

Taz 04-07-2008 09:52 PM

Fairweather fans ... us? No, I don't think so. I would be watching, if I didn't have rotations and exams. The hubby has been updating me when I get home .... I think if I were watching the games, I would have broken several things by now. It's too frustrating.

moremilk 04-07-2008 10:05 PM

to be very honest, the last 10-12 games on the 2005 season (when bosh got hurt) were even harder to watch ...
