SAme here ... need a break? Study until a Raps game and then get back to work when you're done watching. Sadly, I found that after a loss, I was totally unable to concentrate on my work because I was dwelling on what the hell they did wrong. So, I decided for these last set of exams, no Raptors. SOrry ... exams VS. Raptors ... exams win out. I would not be able to concentrate on work if I were watching the games. Oh well.

How can there be more parity in the NHL if theres 8 teams in the NBA that can realistically win it all this year, the West is having a historic season, and Boston is having the biggest turnaround ever? Unless I'm thinking of the wrong word.

The NHL blows.

Thats like, your opinion man.

I can tell ya this much, NHL players wouldn't put up with the selfish shit that kills NBA teams from thier fellow players.

Nope.

They would not.

ps. Come on Thriller, there are 16 teams in the NHL playoffs that can win.... realistically about 12.

How many points seperate last from 8th on average.

Its a tight league man.

speak for yourself, I fully expect to lose every game we're playing now ...

And, while I agree that we play bad, I don't think it's that much of a drop-off from earlier in the season. Let's not forget that all these teams, Charlotte, NJ, Atlanta, are fairly decent teams, playing for their life. Sure, we blew NJ twice, but let's face it, in one game all our shots were falling, the other game was when they traded JK. Vs Atlanta, we had 2 games were we kind of went head-to-head and pulled in the end, if not for some miracle shots, we would have won in the same fashion again.

It's just that we expected we're going to blow these teams just because they have 7-8 victories less than us - which was probably unrealistic to begin with.

My only concern is that we do seem to play much poorly on D. But then again, if fatigue is the main reason, that usually leads to bad D right away. We never were a great defensive team, but we've compensated with effort. When the effort is not there, the reality becomes more visible ...

You guys beat this to death.

Honestly

It's personel.

Toronto isn't all that talented.

And they are small.

And not strong.

And honestly, they move out of the way when guys drive, and when they do foul, it's a continuation.

When they hits shots, they are world beaters, but that won't get ya far in april.

Sorry.

Toronto doesn't have the horses, from Bosh, all the way down.

As for Bosh, now that I mention him, he's not a franchise guy on 20 other teams.

He's good, but he's Complimentary. I'd rather have Rasheed.

What selfish shit kills NBA teams from their fellow players? Or what did you mean to say? I dont get this. The only instance I can think of is the Knicks. What about the Senators tank job the few weeks before this? I'm sure theres a lot more problems in the NHL than youd think, its just in the NBA everyone thinks theres an image problem with the so called hiphop era even though the NBA is safe for years to come with the young players that have come i nthe NBA that are so good on and off the court. Who does the NHL have? Crosby and Ovechkin, woop dee doo. Theres a reason no one watches the NHL.

Do you really believe that? I doubt youd put money on like 8 of those 12 teams, theres probably only 4 teams that can win this year realistically, and unlike in the NBA, can you really say theres a possibility of all the top seeds getting eliminated?

Well,

You may not like the game, but honestly, if you did, and were into it, both playing it and watching, you'r really grow an appreciation for how it's played, and the attitudes the players have as a team.

Hell, a firey fucker like you should be playing!!!

Dude hockey was my favorite sport until 5-6 years ago. I played road hockey with my dad when I came home from school everyday. I was only into watching basketball a little bit on weekends when I went to my friends place since he liked the Raptors even though I played bball a lot.

I loved watching and going to hockey games up until like 2001 or 02 when the 5-4 scores and lots of scoring chances in the games stopped happening and basically every team played that stupid zone trap and there was only like 18 shots a game and the game was just dump and chase boring shit. Since then I havent watched a full game and its just not close entertainment wise to the NBA IMO. Its not exciting every play any way like the NBA is especially in the big games, and I'm an action junky so I need that.

I guess.

I played a lot growing up, and play now so I see it differently.

I love both.

Funny thing is, they are identical in so many facets of play.

Hell, New jersey won cups running a basic 2-1-2 press, it was funny.

I grew up playing and watching both. I rarely watch hockey anymore.

That being said, the thing for me that separates a lot of closely contested games is that in basketball in the dying moments there's much more stoppage of play...timeouts, fouls, etc. Hockey with the exception of an icing here and there and the occasional timeout is pretty much all-out in the closing moments of the game which I think tends to be a bit more exciting or stressful.

In Hockey you rarely see a goal or even a good scoring chance at the end so I disagree there. A critical goal in the last minute happens, what, 5% of the time if that? If I dont expect something is even possible I dont think its really that exciting. Even though timeouts take away from the last plays a lot in bball its still a lot more exciting, as seen with Durant 2 days ago and Kansas yesterday.

I'm not much of a hockey fan anymore but i agree with Acie...close bball games can really drag late with all the stoppages while a close hockey game, much like an overtime period is completely edge of your seat. Comparing the two sports is difficult though... that one goal that is only scored 5% of the time(i question this number's validity) probably equates to something like a 4 point lead with 30 seconds left or something.

Basketball is almost played backwards in terms of time management...you play for that last possession, stretch the clock, try to maintain a multi possession lead etc. YOu can see a lot of teams and players dont' really get into it until the end of quarters, the end of games and the end of overtimes. Having a 5 minute overtime is almost a waste... if you made it 1 minute it would be a lot more exciting in my opinion.

Hockey like soccer isn't played the same way... you really just try to get a lead and then protect that lead. The opposition that has given up a lead is fighting the whole game to get it back...there's an inherent excitement in that format basketball makes up for in other ways.

I think the Detroit era has opened the door to 6-8 seeds winning in the NHL a lot more than they do in basketball, in hockey the possibility of a goaltender getting super hot and stealing games is there, or again if a team like the Wings are pansies in the playoffs or what not. Whereas in basketball the best team usually wins (I know there's examples like Golden State, but it's not like hockey. From 2000-2006(all but last year) every year at least one of the 2-7 matches was won by the 7 in the NHL, I believe). I think in terms of who can win the whole thing, it's more closed like in the NBA, though.
