Houston will push hard to get Bosh!

Quote:
Some 40 days from the league's annual trading deadline, no one in Boise could say with any certainty that the Toronto Raptors are going to be willing to move Chris Bosh ahead of the Feb. 18 trade buzzer.

No one has a firm read on Toronto's intentions yet.

What we did hear, though, is that the Houston Rockets have made it known that they would be willing to trade for Bosh immediately … even if they don't get a guarantee they can re-sign him this summer.

That's the problem with any sort of Bosh deal at midseason. Even if the Raps do decide they want to make Bosh available now and avoid the threat of losing him without compensation in free agency after July 1, there's an overwhelming majority of teams that wouldn't dare consider trading for Bosh in February without some sort of assurance they could keep him.

But Houston is different.

Sources say the ever-aggressive Rockets are sure a half-season in Houston could convince the native Texan to pledge his long-term future to a city players love as well as a team that sits four games over .500 without the injured Yao Ming and the exiled Tracy McGrady. The Rockets also have the requisite stash of young assets, as evidenced by their success this season without marquee names, to assemble a legit deal for Toronto to consider … and without insisting that McGrady's mammoth $22.5 million salary has to be part of it.

Sounds like a thread that can be merged with "Another day, another Bosh rumour".

If this trade ever got off the ground then Houston won't have much of that young talent left. It would have to go the Raptors way.

As long we get Battier & Landry and some picks in return I would deal with HOU (if we HAD to trade Bosh).

They have pieces there that interest me much more than any other team.

Houston has the best pieces to offer the Raptors. If Bosh goes anywhere in a trade this season, it would probably be to the Rockets.

I would give up Brooks + Scola/Landry + fillers for Bosh. I thought T-Mac's contract would be our best asset in a trade Bosh (Houston could take on a bad contract) but its interesting that Morey is pursuing a deal without it. That said, I doubt that BC trades Bosh ANYWHERE especially considering their recent streak.

Bosh has already said he doesn't want to play in Texas.

Although, things can change.

The only good thing is he has one year left on his contract after this season. But that being said i want 3 good players for Bosh, not one massive contract that may or may not pan out. Stability is desperately needed.

Im not sure if Morey will give up Landry. He has been an absolute beast.

Im still pusing for

Brooks + Scola + McGrady + pick

for

Bosh + Calderon + Banks

(BTW in case you forgot, Im a Rocketfan)

I think the possibility of pairing a healthy Yao with Bargs is intriguing.
But you are right, his health is a major issue.
There's nobody else on their roster I give a damn about. If CB4 is going to be traded in season, another all-star better be coming this way.
Hence, it probably won't happen.

no thnks.

the cap space that tmac provides wouldn't get us under the cap by anything significant if we add scola and brooks. at this stage i don't see why colangelo would be interested in expiring deals unless we also get rid of hedo.

Actually would only be sitting at about 30 millioinin salary after everyone expires. But we would also only have 7 guys under contract.

They won't trade Yao. It sucks that we are handcuffed to him but the owner has a ton of seperate Chinese business arrangements outside of Basketball, because of picking promoting Yao, so his financial impact is well beyond what it appears.

Yao is untouchable

I see no reason to acquire Yao if we could get Battier/Landry/Scola (likely 2 of the 3).

Those guys would make us a FIERCE defensive team. My only worry would be that we'd really need Hedo and Bargs to step and be consistent scoring threats (20PPG/gm) for us... oh yeah, if we could rid ourselves of Wright in that trade too that'd be great.

Yao is untouchable
It could also be possible that Houston has given up on Yao after 4 straight injury plagued seasons.

Quote:
The Rockets have been successful without Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, but general manager Daryl Morey isn't content to stand pat. Morey discussed a variety of topics on KILT in Houston with Marc and John, including Houston's efforts to trade Tracy McGrady and the status of their current roster.

"I think right now we don't have anybody untouchable," the GM said. "I think if a deal helps us and makes the team better overall, I agree with you that those players are great players and we like all the players on our roster, but in my job it would be a mistake to not consider everything.

"If we can add something…and right now it's going to be harder to deal because we feel like we are a pretty good team, so to upgrade it's going to take fairly significant talent coming back this way. If it presents itself we'll do it. If not we are very comfortable with the players we have."

Jack/Jose
Battier/DeMar
Hedo/Weems
Scola/Landry
Bargs/Johnson

That's a very nice offensive / defensive mix in the starting lineup, though Bargs would really have to start grabbing 7+ rebounds per to make that lineup effective. Scola is the perfect compliment to Bargs and Battier spotting up from the perimeter while playing lock-down defense on the wing would be huge for keeping Hedo right.
