Default Hope for Contention

With all the uncertainty of this franchise, whether it be the ownership (which could be a positive), the GM, the coach, our draft pick in this weak draft & our developing players. Does anyone actually see us able to develop like a team like the Thunder did? We have some pieces but I just can't imagine a team being built that can make a decent run in the playoffs. Anyone feel the same way?

I think we can develop a team like the thunder did, but it'll take longer than the thunder, because we don't have a supertalent like durant. My only worry is having our good pieces buy into a few more seasons of development.

I don't see that playoff run anytime soon.

A playoff contender usually has one super-star and a complementary player, or several stars. Bargnani and DeRozan are good third options for any contending teams, but are not stars yet. I doubt that our draft pick will turn into a superstar.

This roster has potential, but the Raptors front office must acquire pieces before young assets' contracts expire. In other words, when DeRozan's contract is expiring, there must be damn good reason to re-sign in Toronto.

Another point I forgot to mention is I have no confidence in us actually taking the time to rebuild properly (by the thunder model), & our young core all staying together( IE. Eddy D, DD, future picks).

I wonder if Irving or Williams are superstar talent. Not from what I've been hearing though...

The Thunder, and the Sonics before them, sucked for a long time. If we can't feel confident that this team will ever be any good, then it's time to stop being a fan. A change in ownership could make a huge difference. Draft picks can make a huge difference.

I think this season and possibly next season will mark the lowest times since our innaugural season. So it's tough to think of this team as a contender. But we have a bunch of good young pieces which don't make a championship team. But we have capspace and assets that we could use over the next couple of years to get better.

Also, this was a tanking year. As much as I like to think Triano really sucks, I think he really did make decisions that favoured development over wins.

What does it matter, we're not getting either of them.

Nice. It should be a cinch to get number one then, if your past guesses are any indication.

Whoever we draft we should just trade them. This is a weak draft and I wouldn't want to bother with any of these players.

Lol we'll see in a couple weeks. But maybe I just have a lack of confidence in our luck.

If we don't trade this pick... we are doomed, unless its Derrick Williams.
