Raptors Hoopsworld: Raps might look to aquire Ilyasova

Quote:
There is a third, albeit more expensive one, and that’s Ersan Ilyasova. The Bucks signed Ilyasova to a four-year $40 million deal this past offseason and have not gotten nearly the production out of him as they expected. Ilyasova has market value; both the Raptors and the Nets have made overtures for him. However, it does not look like either is eager to pay a premium to the Bucks for their troubles.

If there is a dark horse play at the deadline it might be Ilyasova, especially if Toronto and Brooklyn swing and miss on other options.

Milwaukee is active in the marketplace, so you can expect them to be involved in something next week. They have several ending contracts and a desire to bolster their team for a second half-push.

Toronto Wants More: The Toronto Raptors got their star in Rudy Gay two weeks ago with their trade with Memphis. With five games under his belt, Gay is paying huge dividends. He is averaging a career best 23.4 points per game and won three of the five games he’s played in. The Raptors, however, are not finished dealing.

Toronto had been linked to Chicago’s Carlos Boozer; however, Bulls’ sources downplayed that report as Toronto calling and not much more.

The Raptors are trying to offload Andrea Bargnani, who has returned from injury and has played surprisingly well.

The Raptors are looking for some serious frontcourt help, but may find the market a little bare, especially with Bargnani has the primary chip in a deal. Raptors sources peg Milwaukee’s Ilyasova as a target; however, it’s unclear how that would work with Rudy Gay now in tow.

Raptors president Bryan Colangelo repeatedly says his club is willing to take on more salary to improve the team, so it will be interesting to see what Toronto can do over the next ten days. They seem more than willing to make a deal, especially if it moves off Bargnani.

We'd def. have to work the "small ball" thing if he were here.... but I've been a fan of his game for a while now.

Anyone watch him enough to oboe why he isn't been as productive? Maybe because of the ball demanding duo of Monta and Jennings?

He started the season slow (and off the bench) under Skiles... who lost his team early on.

Since the coaching change and the move into the starting lineup he's actually been pretty good IMO.

Very right, he started off in a slump.

I think pairing his motor with JV's and Amir's would only be a good thing.... even though he's lacking a little bit of size, he's still capable at the 4.

6'10 235.

He's as big as Ed and he's starting at the 4 for the Bucks now that Skiles is gone.

does this mean all those douchebags that came here when turk was a raptor are going to come back?

NO THANKS!!

it's a shame ross isn't really proving his worth right now, because i think an ilyasova - demar trade would be pretty fair.

Ilyasova is one of my favorite players in this league. The dude is tough as well as skilled. Plays very smart. I can't stand thinking it might be possible, just due to the fact that it might not.

i'd never want my favourite player to be a raptor. i'd be ashamed for all the stupidity they'd be exposed to.

I don't think hoopsworld is the most credible source, but I thought it was Chicago that first contacted Toronto about Boozer?

Bulls are going to try and change the narrative in their favour though.... so it's not a slant against Hoopsworld necessarily.

Ya Chicago initiated talks, not a big deal though.

it's not a slight at the people here, well, maybe to some

i'd rather just watch my players play and not deal with the fans or media involved with them. being an outsider just lets you enjoy it. can you imagine leo dissecting your ilyasova's game every night, and listening to fans criticizing him for not meeting the usual high and un-obtainable raptor expectations.

no thanks.
