Hoopsworld: Bosh happy in Toronto, Marion likely back

"Bosh is extremely happy with the success the Toronto Raptors had to end the season, and feels Shawn Marion might be the piece they've been missing to turn into a solid playoff team. Marion and his agent had lengthy discussions with Raptors brass, and the feeling is mutual that something can be worked out. Don't expect them to consider trading Bosh unless the Marion talks fall apart"

I don't buy it, who is Bill Ingram? How credible is this guy? Why hasn't anybody in Toronto (Media or Fans) heard CB4 say decisively "I want to play in Toronto"? Are all the reports by Yahoo/ESPN sports writers and other media members just a massive conspiracy to convince Raptors fans to accept the idea of trading Bosh?

I mean this late in the game even if Bosh himself came out and said I want to play for you after 2010 I would find it hard to believe. I will only believe it if he signs a contract extension with us.

I really hate the idea of re signing Marion because it means we overpaid, and overpaid for a player whose best years are behind him and isnt our ideal fit. But the article reads like BS anyway

I agree. He's our best option at SF. Therefore we can really consentrate on the SG position/draft/Backup PG/MLE, and resolving the Bosh issue one way or another.

I would love Marion back. He played well last season and I think he can help us going forward. 7-9 mil is okay with me

I don't think his best years are behind him. I think he's consistently been unable to make use of all of his abilities, and he has a real chance to do that here. His best years as a one-dimensional player might be behind him, but as a vet that can do a little bit of everything really well, he can be incredibly valuable. I'd say that without Marion, I would not be concerned about Bosh staying or going. But with Marion I think Bosh would be find staying more favorable, and Bosh's value would increase in return. In other words there's something concrete to build around with Marion here.

His +4 rebounds at his position make up for Barg's -4 rebounds at his position. Marion is definitely a guy we need here.

Marion is still good for 15/8 every night for a few seasons... I wouldn't sign him for more than 3 years, though, especially at $7-9 million per.

I'll believe Bosh after Marion re-signs and Bosh signs the extension.

I would want Marion back but at a rate of 5.5-7million I'm drawing a hard line I would make a point that his 3 point shooting was so horrible this past season (16.5%) that he gets a bonus if he gets his 3point shooting back to his career average of (33%) untill then he will get the 5.5-7million.

Of course he is coming back.

Just like AP, Delfino, OBryant.

Team is going to have like 1 new player next season-Blair.

And no MLE............

If AP is resigned at a reasonable 3.5 per.
Marion at 8 million per
Delfino at 4.5 per(what AP signed for on current deal)
Pops at 1 million per
Douby at .8 million
Joey given 1 more chance at 2.5 million per

Team, payroll--------69.9 million.

- Pops is rumored to be signing with Maccabi. After the season he had somebody in the NBA would be willing to pay him a lot more than 1M. If he's considering Maccabi then they must be willing to pay him a lot more than any NBA team. Count him out. If you count him in, multiply your number by three and maybe we're getting closer to a realistic number.
- Joey G's qualifying offer is $3.5M. If they don't make it they lose his rights. At that point chances are somebody out there who doesn't know his game as well as the Raptors are going to offer him something better than the Raptors just because of his size and athleticism if nothing else. I think you can count him out.
- Colangelo is trying to get another draft pick.
- If Delfino is going to cost $4.5M/yr then he's going to have to stay in Europe because nobody is going to lose their mind and offer that guy that much. The Raptors could get somebody far more consistent than Delfino for $4.5M/yr.

That's my honest opinion anyway...

You could be right Thriller. But then, honestly, we have all been so caught up with the what to do with Bosh, trade or over pay, that we have honestly forgotton the one thing that makes most sense.

Chris Bosh has only ever been happy in Toronto. He has not once, ever, said anything but that.

Maybe he wants to stay.

Maybe, this team is actually pretty good looking at the Glass half full.

Personally, I really think that Drafting Blair, and a pesky little scoring 2 guard could really make this team tough.

Marion really did improve last year one they got comfortable. Calderon really is a great PG, a guy that once healthy, played exactly how we wanted him too. Bosh is phenominal, and growing into a leader, a guy that in another 2-3 years is going to be a great Captain. Bargnani is an enigma, but lets play the half full and say he will continue on his curve, and become a very scary, and from what I have seen, unconcious player.

Adding grit with Blair, keeping....YES KEEPING Parker on as an amazing team guys and vet player that does a very high number of little things right on the floor, thjings that aren't on stat sheets, a guy that can teach the other guys the same things, just might help push this team right back into the Home team advantage conversation come next spring.

Maybe the sky, isn't falling today.
