HoopsHype - The Top 50 players in Raptors history

Some of these names are so bad that I had to share. Confirms that no one watches the Raptors other than Raptor fans.

Jonas 43?

Moon over Lowry and JV.

This list is so bad.

I've only seen the Knicks and Lakers lists and I thought they were horrific. All the right names more or less but the order left many questions.

I didn't think they'd go and do a list for the Raptors though. So that's nice.

Yeah for me Rudy is already the 3rd best player to put on a Raptors jersey. I think the list is focused on the significant role they have played with the franchise. There's no way Alvin Williams or Mo Pete were better players than Damon or even AD.

Kapono ahead of JV

I think the list is probably stats based, the guy probably filtered all the players with certain points / rebounds / assists totals (while on the Raptors) and then placed them more or less in that same order.

So Kapono's 7.7ppg/1.8rpg gets him ahead of players like Jarrett Jack, Kyle Lowry, Jonas Valanciunas, Leandro Barbosa, Jerryd Bayless?

It does, actually.

It looks like some combination of total pts+rbs+assists+maybe total minutes, and special attention to playoff numbers. Maybe he's subjective here and there, but it seems in general he just followed his formula and googled the pictures.

This list is ridiculous. The fact we have had so many scrubs who actually made it to the top 50 just tells me how bad this franchise was managed.

I didn't need a list to tell me that.

its also 1 of the youngest franchises in the league so you can't expect that much out of this list, i'm sure almost every franchise's list of top 50 is going to include quite a few randoms

Try making a top 50 of alltime Timberwolves players... Equally depressing.

just think about it this way, Raptors are less than 20 years in existence, about 5 years of that are expansion years where the majority if not all the players on the team are not going to be good no matter what, so selection of those players are going to be based more on value to the team in the early years than actual NBA skills
then in the non-expansion years you still only have 15 players on the roster per year, about half of the players are the same for at least 3-4 years at a time, after maybe the 8th player on each roster the rest are expendable scrubs
its no surprise there isn't much to pick a list from, its not depressing its just being realistic

This is just a bad list. It's a guy just naming off 50 players who have played for the team. You could very easily have a pretty good debate naming off the top 50 players who have played for the Raptors. Off the top of my head let's go with:

Carter, McGrady, Bosh, Peterson, Bargnani, Calderon, Ford, Davis, A. Williams, Lowry, Jack, O'Neal, Marion, Turkoglu, Willis, Oakley, Camby, Stoudamire, Christie, Jackson, Alston, D. Brown, D. Curry, K. Clark, DeRozan, Garbajosa, Gay, Amir, Mike James, Rose, Donyell Marshall, Nesterovic, Parker, Alvin Robertson, Jerome Williams, Corliss Williamson, Walt Williams, Delfino, Childs and Bonner.

There's 40 guys who've had some type of an impact on this squad and ignoring guys like Hakeem (I've blacked that part out of my brain) and Billups (confidence was ruined and was a journeyman before he found home in Orlando/Minnesota/Detroit). Those 40 guys have had some type of impact and considering we haven't been around it's better than what I just read on that Hoopshype piece (seriously, Milt Palacio?)

I can't wait for the ACC to put the finishing touches on its Voshon Lenard statue.
