The Hoop Doctors: Early Season MVP Candidates

Dirk is number 1 and CB is at 10.

Quote:
10) Chris Bosh - Based on shear numbers, Bosh should be one of the favorites since he is 6th in scoring(27 ppg) and 2nd in rebounding(12.2). But his Raptors squad is floundering with a 6-7 record. We all know he is in a contract year and those players always put up big numbers. Since the Raptors made a number of offseason changes to be much improved, Bosh should be leading them to more victories

Bah. Let's blame the loses on 8 out of 12 road games.

too early
our schedule has been very difficult, the team is brand new and we have 3 new coaches as well.

After all this, we're only 3 games behind Boston. We could be a .500 team the rest of the way, but there's still potential for 50 wins.

That being said, #10 is about right for Bosh ...

Yeah.... people are right.

If Bosh was REALLY an MVP he'd be avging 55 & 32 and sinking gamewinners from halfcourt at the buzzer.

Because that's what MVPs do right?

No, but when is the last time an MVP came from a sub-500 team?

If the Raptors can get on a roll and win a few games in a row, this will be much different. I think that even with a bit more luck in some of the close games, this ranking could favour Bosh much more. But enough of coulda, shoulda, woulda. I honestly think that if this teams lives up to expectations later in the season, Bosh can be a legitimate candidate.

If you can't win a playoff round without someone named Vince beside you, you have no business having your name in the discussion.

I really doubt Bosh will be putting up these numbers still in March. But if he does, awesome... Still not MVP status unless we make it to the 2nd round...

Hey, don't get me wrong... I realize that there has to be TEAM success in order for him to even be considered... I just don't buy the argument that "Bosh isn't an elite/MVP player because he can't lead his team to a better record".

That's pure horseshit.

When Nash won his B2B MVPs do you think that he would have done it without Amare & Marion playing like all-stars?

Kobe could have won the MVP about 5 times by now except for the fact that his team SUCKED for a few seasons and he could only do so much by himself. Once he got Pau and Lamar (and Bynum playing better)? Boom! MVP.

Bosh has NINE new teammates this season.... and everyone's still trying to gel (esp. on the defensive end).

I'd really like to hear what MORE they want Bosh to do that he hasn't done to this point.

You pretty much have to win 55+ games to be an MVP candidate. That leaves Bosh out.

Last season Bosh started the season off like this and then hit a wall around this time. After yesterday, i just hope it's not happening again.

Both Dirk and Nash are worse than Bosh defensively.

Dirk's been very, very good on defense this year. He's always been a good team defender, it's his one on one defense that's been suspect. That's changed this year. Bosh hasn't ever really been good at either.

If the Mavs keep winning Dirk will still be in the MVP conversation by the end of the season.

I honestly think Bosh should be at least 4 or 5.

Putting up good numbers against tough teams plus still get a few wins here and there? that should be a huge factor.
