Roko Ukic (16 points Monday) has looked like a real NBA player lately, they're finally playing Kris Humphries after half a season of hearing me beg them to play him, and the reinsertion of Jamario Moon and Anthony Parker as starters has helped seal up the leaky perimeter D. Now if they can just convince Jason Kapono that he's a 3-point shooter, they'll be most of the way there.

But the big change has been from Andrea Bargnani. The frustrating Italian was as worthless as any player in the NBA in the season's first month and a half, but has played his best stretch of basketball since, shooting the ball confidently and consistently while Jermaine O'Neal sits out and raising the question of whether the Raps should bench and/or trade O'Neal once he returns from injury.

Bargnani's month-by-month splits jump off the page -- in seven January games he's averaging 20.6 points on 53.6 percent shooting. He's made 60 percent of his 3s, grabbed six defensive boards a night and he's even gotten to the line occasionally.

I mentioned last week that we should monitor whether this is more than a little hot streak. It's becoming apparent that it's something more momentous -- and that after two years of more fizzle than sizzle, the Bosh-Bargnani pairing, for whatever reason, is really clicking. All that has the Raps on a trajectory to salvage their season and, perhaps, make it to the playoffs after all.

That's exactly the same way I feel. Although we lost this game we actually grew as a team. Bring on Boston in April. I think we can take them.....

it's simple, Bargs doesn't play the game for himself like JO does and doesn't have the "superstar" ego that JO does as he demands the ball. that is why AB and CB are the Killer B's, not the Killer "ME'S"

see Bargs blow by Ray Allen.. not bad for a big guy... AB is way more effective working outside in which give Bosh the room inside to create the space he needs with his jump shot... not having to compete with JO has been a help to both their games this past few games.

I would still love to see JO come off the bench (if he is still here) when he gets back from injury. CB + AB starting with Oneal filling in from the bench would kick some serious A$$ in the frontcourt. JO would tear up the second units. And if JO + Kaps cpould play like CB + AB and make each other space, it would be quite the double pairing. All we need is Jose back to health and helping the starting line cause with taking more risks/chances and penetrating/driving/moving on offence, and let Ukic handle the rock for the second unit.

/matt salivates.

But, this wont happen, and maybe a good thing, as JO might be traded. But I will think about that if and when it happens, not now.

Don't trade JO. We can definetly get someone better than Marion next year.

I dunno, I'm leaning more and more to the side right now that the 2010 plan is going to blow up in the faces of half the teams going for it. Taking into accout resigning players, a lot of teams are gonna be left with a lot of space and nothing to show for it. Going for 2009 and being the top spender could end up being a brilliant move

I think either Marvin Williams or Odom would be almost perfect for this team. The first is 22 and could play with Bosh/Bargnani forever (he's also a good defender/rebounder)... get Marvin more touches and he could really be a player. Odom and Bargnani compliment each other absolutely perfectly. Odom's lack of shooting is normally a detriment, but with Bargs as our center... no problemo. On the other side Odom's exceptional rebounding for a 3 would make up for Bargs. Not to mention he's a walking mismatch who can create plays and beat players off the dribble.

If we get either of those players and have lots of bench room, and Bargs is legit I really do believe we're not far off from really being a team
