SportsNation John Hollinger: (4:10 PM ET ) I had speculated that he might whack Mitchell in my Insider Gems the morning after the Denver game (shameless plug), so no, it didn't surprise me. Raps have serious roster issues, as you mentioned; changing coaches now gives Colangelo a chance to see what a different coach can do before he starts trying for grander things in February.

Andrea Bargnani: I don't get why you've written so harshly about me, when by your very own metrics, I've made huge strides this season. And my defense has improved quite a bit (as the stats would also indicate). Why is it so odd the the 4th best PER on the team is getting starters minutes?

SportsNation John Hollinger: (4:24 PM ET ) Bargnani is playing better than last year, certainly, but he still can't guard 3s. And Humphries has out-PERed Bargnani every year in Toronto and is the same age, so I don't get why he's behind him in line for minutes. Actually the best thing to do might be to trade Bargnani, but I'm not sure Colangelo could stomach that.

Anton (Calgary): Raps are in need of a 3 that is true but How is it Graham Kapono Moon are not consistent contributers?? Coaching? Also with the Raptors roster who is a realistic option that might help?? Azambuke, Belineli McCants??

SportsNation John Hollinger: (4:31 PM ET ) I think they should go back to starting Moon at the 3 -- he and Humphries are among the best +/- guys on the team and have solid PERs but have had limited roles, especially lately. Graham is a mediocre backup, a good athlete wiith little feel for the game. Kapono is the one Triano might be able to get some results with -- somebody needs to slap him in the head and remind him to take 3s, take 3s, take 3s, and cut all this pump-faking and off-the-dribble nonsense.

Who really takes this guy seriously? Stats are IMO the worst ways to evaluate a player in any sport. Sure they give you basic information but you can't base a players skill on "PER". Hollinger is simply a clown.

All he talks about is peoples +/- and the PER. He doesn't base it on actually watching the game. What a douche

Really, start Moon at the 3? Hump at the 4? At what point do you lose credibility?

He's right about Moon, but wrong about Hump and Kapono.

Moon is the best perimeter defender we have, and we do better with him on the court than off it, as his +/- indicates. It's amazing to me that the people that criticize the +/- as just another useless stat are the same people that complain about Moon's rebounding rate (an even more useless stat). Of course, no one mentions that Moon's offense has improved considerably since last year. I like him, he's our glue guy.

Hump is good when he's playing high energy, and he can't do that for more than 15 minutes a game. That's why his PER is so good in limited minutes, and it's why he should keep playing limited minutes. The guy just isn't a starter.

Kapono doesn't shoot enough threes because he can't get himself open. It's really that simple. Other teams know all about Kapono, and play him accordingly. I can't remember the last time Kapono passed up an open look.

Moon's offense has actually gotten worse, it's just his shooting that's gotten better - and that's not really saying much. He's driving less than he did (which IS saying a lot) and he's not crashing the glass, so he's basically ridding himself of easy baskets. The man is an absolute joke.

I disagree.

Moon seemingly bites on every pump fake, is usually slow to react and close out on shooters and relies on his athleticisim to defend instead of positioning and moving his feet.

His reliance on the jumper has increased, he has an aversion to contact and he's become allergic to rebounding.

I often see him under offensive glass. And always our shot goes in when hes there

I agree with article about giving Moon and Hump (and Graham) consistent minutes.

Calderon (35) Ukic (13)
Parker (36) Kapono (15)
Moon (30) Graham (15)
Bosh (40) Hump (8)
ONeal (30) Bargs (18)

It is quite obvious Hollinger doesn't watch Raptor games and knows nothing about the team so he should just keep his dumb American mouth shut when it comes to Toronto and the Raptors.

you would think with that time spent under the offensive glass, he would actually get a rebound from time to time ...

That being said, I definitely would move Bargnani back to a front court position, and if Triano is true to his word, Andreea could get 6-8 minutes from Bosh to bring him to ~30, which would be ideal for him. Whenever he plays close to 40, he's visibly tired towards the end. Humpries should only play when it's a blowout, foul trouble, or we're in need of some energy.
