Hollinger: Raptors For The 8th Spot

Charlotte has a ton of road games and just lost Wallace, Indy has Granger's knee hurting, Milwaukee just lost Redd ... so Raps have the advantage right now.

We do have the mosy chance to get it and I know we will but for some reason I'd rather not get into the playoffs just to play the Celts and get swept

Good point about all those injuries. It's still going to be tough, because those injuries only cover half of the teams we have to get past.

That is just great ... Raptors will get 8th spot because other 3 lottery teams to challenge the 8th spot have injury problems. That makes Raptors season a real success.

we are only 2 games out of it. Our record would have been way better if we closed out games this season.I still think Raps can get the 7th or 8th spot. Philly went on an amazing run last year, i think we can do the same if we stay healthy.

The Celtics didnt sweep anyone last season an they wont be sweeping anyone this season. I'd welcome the chance to play them in the 1st round, other than the early Sunday beating we took, we have competed well against them in some close matches. Do i think we have a chance in the series, not a hope in hell, but some good showings make the Raptors look way more attractive in the offseason for potential signings. I made the point before about how the Hawks Celtics 1st round went down last year and how theres no way their fans would have wanted to miss out on that. I know the Raps are in a different boat now, due to higher expectations to progress past the 1st round, but just making it and giving the Celtics a run for their money is the most positive situation that can be achieved.

I'd rather get the 8th spot, even if we get swept. Playoffs is just fun no matter what, and considering how much we hate the Celtics, it'll be entertaining if nothing else. Plus it'll carry good karma into next year to make a comeback to 8th after the year we had, you want to keep that confident mentality. Also every playoff series is experience for Bosh/Bargs, it gets them their reps.

Oh and I said from day 1 we never had a chance at the 2nd round. This team was NOT going to beat Boston, Detroit, Cleveland, or Orlando, as constructed back then, especially with the assurance they'd have HCA.

Draft class sucks, and i refuse to root for a team that goes out there out to lose. Playoffs!

Ummmm... the Raps still have to win the games to get in. It's not like they'll make it by default.

If they make it in it'll be because they earned it.

That would be epic.

I want ORL or BOS if we make it in.

I DON'T want any part of DET or CLE.

yes the team we have the best chances against is ORL. I would welcome that series again before any of the other ones. As long as we dont get too man people getting hurt we should be ok.

Plus our schedule after Feb 10th is very favorable. Alot of home games vs supposed opponents. Well favorable on paper often means losses, but i think they'll be focused.

If we can somehow get to the 6th or 7th seed. If we go by the standings right now and put ourselves in the 6th we'd take on Orlando, 7th we'd take on Boston, and 8th we'd take on Cleveland

I don't see us taking 6th, 7th would be tough enough. I expect us to take 8th and play either Celts or Cavs. Either way we better get a decent upgrade at the SF position or it's a quick 4-5 game series and it will be ugly.
