On paper, a team with Chris Bosh, Jose Calderon, Andrea Bargnani and Shawn Marion should be monstrously efficient, even with the wing players contributing comparatively little. And at the defensive end, the Raps will almost certainly be better if they're contending for something, as they appeared to give up on this season once they fell out of the race.

As with the other teams listed above, they'll be getting a high draft pick, and Toronto also has some cap space at its disposal, depending on how it decides to proceed with Marion.

I don't know if that's enough to get this team back to the postseason -- but regardless, there's no reason they should be this far out of the race.

It's true... and it's the main reason why i think we'll be a pretty solid team next year.

but seriously, gettting the right coach is CRUCIAL.

Hey, John..... here is a hint.... they can't play defence, which is apparently an important part of the game.

One thing that apparently Hollinger will never understand is, on paper does not equal on court.

To borrow a PJism: the Raptors are like the characters in the Wizard of Oz.
No heart, no brains and no balls. You can't measure that with statistics.

Can't, or won't?

I think they may just be mentally checked out.

Hollinger makes a good point.

Why all the hate on the clippers... in terms of this year... they've had worse injury problems than us. And if we were in the western conference?.. I'm not so sure we'd be any better.

On offence our problem is Anthony Parker's multiple missed fadeaways, Marion's multiple missed layups, Bosh always coming back towards the middle of the lane and using his inside hand to get blocked, Bargs playing face up every play at the 3 pt line.

On Defence it's Jose getting beat everytime, AP overhelping and our bigs having to help every play. and our Bench sucks.

I dont know why everyone says we've been inconsistent this year... These things have been consistently happening every game and we lose consistently. We just have a crappy team...

Bullseye SJ.

Watching Pops actually trying to play defense is amplifying the lack of desire of the other players. Heck, half of Pops rebounds he is pulling off Raptor players just sitting there.

I picked the Clippers to make the playoffs this year. When healthy, they have a 1-5 that gives other teams fits. Kaman, Camby, Thorton, Gordon and BDavis is as solid as they come.

There's no direction in this team..and maybe some of our players aren't that good (ie Marion). The day I knew this team wasn't making the playoffs was after that 40-point loss at New York. It just looked like no one gave a damn to play anymore. There's no heart, no desire, and seemingly, no pride. This team needs an identity - and not "losers", cause that's definitely not a good identity.

The Clippers WILL be good soon, but they need to make a coaching change: most of the team, but especially Baron Davis, do not seem to be getting along with him. Then when healthy, this team can finally bring it all together. Eric Gordon is an amazing talent with a really bright future.

As for Hollinger, I guess he doesn't get the part beyond stats. Joey G was on Hoops saying that the reason the team doesn't win is because they don't have pride and don't bring heart or intensity to the games. Which stat explains that?

Sidenote: Joey's interview was great. He sounds like he really, really wants to be back with the Raptors next year, but I don't know if he'll fit in BC's plans.

What happened?

Really all I think of when I see this Raptors season is: what happened??

First of all Bosh did not take the leadership role he was supposed to take he just kept on being frustrated in interviews. He was supposed to be a monster team player coming out of the Olympics and at the beginning of the season everybody was hyping him up. The reporters even asked him if he would be MVP and he said everything is possible.

Second, Bargs had his breakthrough season everyone will agree with me on this one.. if he keeps on playing like he is.. he will be an allstar sooner or later. And he dosnt just camp at the 3 point line and spots up. he drives alot and gets to the basket alot.

Third, everyone keeps on saying our bench is so shitty.. but how many benches in the NBA are really good?? Only the top teams have good benches. But what im trying to say that if our coach would know how to use our roleplayers properly and not start to give kapono 15 shots a game when theres still 40 games left and let our big guy role players actually just crash the boards and not run our offense over them when there in. why would you ever let jake voskuhl take a jumpshot? You should fine him for taking one IMO.

Even though I find all these reasons when i think about the Raps season being shitty I still dont understand how this team could underachieve this much... especially because they got "better" since last season ( Bargs breakout, marion, boshes "crazy" teamplay and defense)

Its very simple. The reason we are so bad comes down just to 2 things. #1 lack of a consistant scorer at the 2 position and not having a healthy Calderon for most of the year. If we get a #2 next year and Calderon is healthy we will turn this baby around. No question about that !
