Default Hollinger: Dixon for Elson?

Hmm ... interesting. Not the answer to our rebounding woes, but I'd do it. It can't hurt, but only help in my opinion.

Thoughts?

SportsNation John Hollinger: (4:04 PM ET ) Not impossible, just from the perspective of making numbers match -- for instance, Juan Dixon would work. In order to avoid the tax, they need to trade him for somebody who makes $64K less, and probably have to throw in cash to pay the difference in pay and a second-rounder.

Yeah not amazing, but he's also a decent defender too. Tall and lanky, but a good shot blocker from what I can remember. I've only watched him a handful of times though.

This looks like a deal that BC would make...

why? Don't we already have a decent defender that barely plays in rasho? It's not like we're mostly getting burned inside (although the lack of a shot blocker doesn't help). Elson would play 10 mpg at most, if that. It's better to have dixon imo, considering the problems we have with TJ this season.

Maybe BC plans to move Rasho? Or maybe he feels that young good defender will force Bagnani to perform better... also, Dixon is not happy and would like to be moved... Raps don't need unhappy players in their locker room.

I think the Raps are more in need of a better 3rd string option at PG than another big.

Elson when given the time, I remember last season when he was filling in for an injured Oberto and even when he was in Denver, can play basketball. He's a more energetic Hump, and with a more polished offensive game. Trading Dixon for him, imo would be quite a steal espescially if we plan on moving Rasho at any point.

Is Elson an upgrade over Baston? I dont' really think so..Baston has more offense and he's not cracked the lineup...Elson would rot here.

Except, Elson plays backup C, Baston more of backup PF. I think it's better to give Bargnani some backup PF minutes. He seems to play better when he does that.

Elson > Baston

The guy's decent, has playoff/championship experience, not to mention has a bit of a nasty streak in him, but I still think a third string PG should be more of a priority.

Okay..so is Elson an upgrade over Rasho?? Not a chance. No way i busy Rasho on the bench for a bit of athleticism.

The Spurs thought Elson was better than Rasho since that's who they replaced him with.

I doubt that. YOu could argue just as easily that BC thought Rasho was better than Elson. I think it was more a contract trade though.

Actually Rasho had been relegated to the bench in favour of Nazr Mohammad the season before. I actually like Rasho better than both though.
