Default Hollinger: Carter a Massive Upgrade Over Hedo

A massive upgrade? Really?

John Hollinger - I'm amazed at how many people think Turkoglu is better than Vince Carter. Sorry, but there's no way. Carter is a better shooter, better scorer, better rebounder, better defender and, believe it or not, had a better Pure Point Rating than Turk last season. Nobody saw him because the Nets were terrible, but he had an All-Star caliber season. This is a massive upgrade.

Carter has more talent and athletasism then Hedo but Mr. Carter is only good when he wants to be and he often doesn't. Plus Carter is 3 years older and declining imo. I think Hedo is extremely good for us mainly because of the system and players around him. At the same time VC should do well in Orlando...main difference Hedo makes us alot better especially considering the deal also allows us to get Jack and a few other players. And Orlando with Vince Carter minus Hedo...how much better will they be?

Throw the stats at 'em, Johnny!

Turkoglu works so much better in Orlando's system than Vince will. In Turkoglu, Dwight Howard couldn't ask for a more ideal player to run the pick and roll with - a 6'10" guy that can take you to the basket, shoot and pass is absolutely perfect for a pivot centre like Dwight. A huge portion of the Magic offense was run through that pick and roll, and Vince just isn't the same pick and roll player as Turkoglu.

Yea, I'm reading the chat now, too. He's such a snarky little dickhead. He answered my question, though:

Quote:
Anton (Czech Republic)
John, which conference will be the better one next year? Did Toronto, Orlando, Washington, Atlanta, and Cleveland do enough to tip the scales in their favor, or is the West still the best?

John Hollinger
Quick correction, since this is widely misundertood: the East was better than the West last year. They won more games head to head and had three of the four best records, and the West had six dregs at the bottom while the East only had one automatic win (Washington). Only place West was better was spots 4 thru 9, and that may not hold up this year.

As if I didn't know the East had a better record... but, outside the top three, teams 4-8 were much worse than teams 4-9 in the West, which is what I was referring to. He never has anything good to say about Toronto. Even said:

Quote:
Carlos (Ottowa)
What do you think is next for Toronto? Do think they'll still be able to land Delfino and Rasho?

John Hollinger
Most likely, yes, and then they'll call it a day. I think Dallas should take a hard look at Rasho but I'm not hearing much on that front, plus he's familiar with Toronto and puts them closer to their roster goal of having 11 foreign guys and Chris Bosh.

John Hollinger
I heard they were crestfallen when they found out DeMar DeRozan wasn't French.

Sure, lets see when Howard calls out Vince for not trying during the playoffs.

Why are you always hating on Canada? Do you have smth against the raptors? Have you ever even been to Toronto?

John Hollinger
It's soooo easy to push the Raps' fans buttons ... been to Canada plenty, yes, and the Banff area in particular is on my all-time list of favorites.
Great, now we love you John!

Well, at least he didn't use stats to deny this:

Quote:
Efrivela (Toronto)
Just admit it already.... the Raptors will finish between 4 and 7 in the East.

John Hollinger
Think that's a pretty good possibility, yes. Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, Miami in that conversation as well.
Although really, he listed pretty much every team that has a chance at making the playoffs. I'd replace Miami with Chicago, though.

Ahahah, very funny, what a bozo.

@ jeffb: Turk can be pretty inconsistent actually, in the postseason he played better on the road than at home.. let's just hope that's because he hates being in Orlando.

on a crap team, Carter is a massive upgrade... but on a good team, Carter is a liability IMO.
on Orlando especially, Carter will not be as good a player as Hedo, nor will he be as beneficial as Hedo was to that team.

He can't punch such variables into his calculator. The pussy factor is also something that is missing from his calculations.

I'm not sure how any of you refute this.

Carter is way better than Hedo.

You don't think so???

I'd just like to point of that Hollinger "calculated" that Anthony Randolph would be a complete bust. Guess what? He's about to bust out BIG TIME.

Athletic ability wise and scoring IMO, but when it comes down to leadership and IQ I think it would be Turk.

agreed, but who cares. You get other guys to do that, he has shown he can't lead, so, don't make him lead.

I like his game a lot. He plays good dewfence, and he can light it up, he also isn't a hog.
